Fighting George back then was exactly like fighting Isaac Frost in Fight Night Champion's story mode. On your bike for 3 rounds, quick counterpunching for another couple, then gather your strength for another 2 rounds before pouring everything into knocking him on his ass in the second half of the fight. Mind you, I'm good enough at Fight Night Champion that I can't make the game hard enough to give me a real challenge and even I struggle to beat Frost the first try. Not sure I ever have. It's one thing knowing HOW to do it, it's quite another having the talent to actually do it. That's what cemented Ali's legacy if you ask me. Being able to tame that giant. That night in Kinshasa was the night he became the GOAT. George had so many flaws, but his power was such that a jab from him was like a power shot from another heavyweight. And George, undisciplined and badly conditioned for 15 rounds as he was, was still good enough to hit you 20 or 30 times every round. That's a lot of pain you have to endure before you can start to beat the big man up a little in return. Someone said that if you could put the mind of George from his 2nd career in the body of George from the first, that's the best heavyweight who ever laced up. They were basically saying that if young George knew how to pace himself and think analytically, he would have really been unstoppable. Maybe. But if someone could have got him to tighten up his punching technique, can you imagine the power he could have found from his power shots then? If rather than those wide, flailing shots with no snap, shots that took longer to deliver than the 2nd class mail, shots that were in no way sharp or accurate, just thudding and haphazard. If someone could have caught him real young and trained him to deliver fast, sharp, accurate shots like Mike Tyson was able to learn, man I'm not sure anyone could withstand that. I'm not even sure he would have needed to pace himself or think particularly analytically then.

Ali couldn't predict a morning bowel movement. It's funny the only time you hear the word pandemonium is in boxing.
