My dad worked for a DuPont subsidiary. He opened up chemical plants during the 50,60’s & 70’s. He would bring home cool plastic cups & little tv trays. I’m sure I’m LOADED with microplastics. He lived to be 94. But died with or from Leukemia. When I looked into his type of leukemia, it’s usually due to chemical exposure. He DID exercise & stayed 10 pounds under the recommended wt for height. What really helped him was his walking regiment. Daily 5 miles. In the mountains. Walked to post office, grocery store, everywhere. He could move unassisted up until the week before his death. At the end, he lost all interest in food so it was obvious his organs had stopped functioning. Zero pain as well. Thankfully

R/O water filters are great however, I don't think they do much to remove the 'forever chemicals' produced in the manufacturers of plastics. The answer to that would be a countertop, water distiller. Heat destroys those chemicals but I think the heat with the distiller, would only melt the micro and nanoplastics. I would love to hear more on that!

It's not that this is being ignored. Those folk haven't quite figured out how to monetize a solution, as this will be disrupt how vast fortunes are made. In addition to what Doc has laid out, using immune strengthening protocols that detoxify at a cellular level should be foundational. There is quite a bit of clinical papers on this. Chiefly among them is getting cystine/cysteine directly into the cell. Another area would be focusing on dna methylation and Krebs cycle.

I don't think people realize how much plastic we are surrounded by. I live on a farm and I pick up so much plastic from the side of the road so it doesn't end up in your food. It's my small step. Farmers on big farms can no way do what I do so the plastic just ends up in your food. It's just a small example of plastics in our lives.

At least you are acting responsibly and trying your best to limit plastic contamination. Where I live, it is the farmers themselves that are responsible for much of the plastic contamination. They remove plastic sheets from bales and let it blow into the streams and rivers. I've pulled plastic bottles to do with feeding lambs from a sack thrown in a river. Car tyres, plastic sacks of feed, plastic feed buckets. It's terrible to see so much waste that is 100% needless and careless. Go to the local beach, and I find plastic oil drums that get washed (or thrown) over the sides of fishing boats, plastic nets, plastic floats. We really are in a plastic waste crisis right now, but supermarkets seem to be wrapping produce in more of it, not less.

I have been doing the same most of my adult life. I started after I reheated some pasta in a plastic food storage container, I noticed the tomato sauce damaged the plastic, I figured this process was going in both directions. I started to use glass storage, alum foil. I opted for food items that came in glass or cans. One thing I notice is that I seldom have to take my trash to the curb. I guess a lot of our trash is the plastics we discard. It is very difficult to avoid plastic packaging but I agree, every little bit helps.

I’m in the process of removing plastics from our lives as much as possible. I think if we go back to “ old school “ living, it would be of great help. Dupont (see the movie "Dark Waters"), Big Food, Big Pharma, etc. has resulted in so much harm to not only us, but everyone on this planet. I am like Lt. Exley in LA Confidential after he and Bud White get into a fist fight. Bud White asks Exley, "The Night Owl made you. You want to tear that down?" Exley replies "With a recking ball. Your mixing together two things that are separates 1- industrial revolution has saved billions of people from death 2- CORPORATIONS and specifically INC. types are killing millions. You 100% can have positive industries if you don't give them in the hands of huge corporation who don't care one second about humanity. Don't throw the baby (ind revolution) with the dirty bath water (Incorporations) The worse thing that happened to humanity, is the British inventing the corporations without PERSONAL consequence for the board for the company they are controlling.

Much microplastic exposure potentially comes from the bags for fresh vegetables in grocery stores and food wraps. In the laboratory work I do, we use various microscopic equipment like scanning electron microscopes. When a sample comes in for analysis and it has been wrapped in common plastic or put in a sandwich bag, under magnification we see it covered with plastic particles. Oftentimes the sample can not be analyzed properly because of the plastic contamination all over it from these common wraps. We eat vegetables that have been wrapped and transported in these materials.

Near the hospital, there was this cancer advice centre giving patients advice that wasn't being given out in the hospital itself. The first thing patients were told was - throw out your carpets. They give off formaldehyde. Even if you've had them a while, they will still give off a little, and this is one cause of cancer.

@@eugene9000pro i disagree. I have had massive increases in health, as evidenced by blood work and also relative energy, by switching to an all meat and dairy diet since thanksgiving. I suspect that the standard American diet is absolutely terrible for human health. So i would agree that vegetarian would be better than that. I would also agree that animal based diet is superior to that, as well. But calling meat not food is totally blind to nature. Look outside, watch animals. This isn’t complicated.

Same here! Glad to know there are other women who don't subscribe to spreading make-up all over their face. I did it as a teen, 40 years ago, and only when going out to nightclubs. But as I started work as a gardener, make-up is just too inconvenient. I got to like being without make-up much better, and haven't worn it since (except on my wedding day. And considering my husband was my 5th marriage proposal, and the only one I accepted, I'd say that men are just fine with women relying on their own 'natural beauty'). One thing I 'did' do for the last few years, much to my regret, was to use spray deodorants with aluminium in the ingredients. This made me sick for a while and I went on a heavy metal detox diet for a while. It took 2 weeks for me to get right again. I've now found a deodorant without aluminium, but it comes in a plastic container. Looks like I might have to think about somehow making my own out of beeswax or something.

Huge need for factual, research based information about plastics and PFAS type forever chemicals. Switched to dry laundry detergent sheets and glass food storage containers but that is small impact. But if people stop putting plastic in the dish washer that might help stop putting small particles into the waste water. Hand washing plastic is much less abrasive than dish washer detergent. Education! Also get a good water filter. I am confused about boiling water to drop plastics out of suspension but then what type of filter will work? Will a coffee filter remove those particles. Getting rid of my coffee maker because of plastic coffee basket. Switching to a glass water kettle and a stainless steel mesh basket "pour over" filter. Most air fryers are plastic but a few available in stainless steel. Also confused about ceramic non-stick coatings; are they PFAS free? So much to discover. So much to learn... So much to discern!!!!!!

Dr. Berry, thank you for everything you do for humankind. I never ever would have thought about plastic particulates coming off our clothing. I am anaphylactic to latex since 1998, back when Universal Precautions was hitting heavy due to AIDS virus. I should have been more scared of latex than the AIDS virus. The medical field is still ignorant of latex allergy. The only thing I can do is avoidance. I guess I will have another thing to be cautious about. I have been modified keto, sugar free, refined foods reduction and using only good oils since November. 30 lbs gone. I have watched many hours of KZfaq just to educate myself on our food industry and big pharma. I just can not wrap my head around our Washington people. The utter insanity of drinking bottled water may very well be the cause of most of this exposure. Even if you don't ingest much actual plastic from one bottle of water, that bottle ends up in the waste stream and generates all the little bits of plastic that subsequently get into everything. Drink well water if you can and filter it as much as you can.

Thank you for this! So many tell of problems but very few ever tell of anything we can do to prevent or treat these issues. As a southerner born and raised in MS I love your tell it like it is no nonsense no sugar coating personality! So many professionals in any profession try to come across as professional as possible, try to mentally monitor what they say as they are speaking, and use words some people don’t understand. I love that you let loose and are passionate about what you say. You just use everyday words that everyone should understand. People can tell when someone isn’t being their true self. You are as real as it gets. I’d love to see a video if you don’t already have one that tells how to feed bigger than average family carnivore without breaking the bank or on a budget. If you have made one and could tell me around what date I need to look for it that would be great! I have 5 kids. God has a sense of humor because when we tried for baby #4 he gave us boy/girl twins. We still have 3 of 5 at home. They are now 20yr old son in college. Twins are 15. So they eat a lot! Do you or your wife have a recipe book for families living this way? I have lupus so I’m sick and tired of being sick & tired. My oldest daughter 26 was diagnosed at 14 but hasn’t needed meds because it’s barely active thank the Lord! My oldest son has tested positive several times but always gone back to normal levels when he was being monitored by a children’s hospital for a year twice for elevated liver enzymes. Had an amazing doc from Africa who said it was his adhd med the first time & the acne med the second time. He’s sensitive to meds. And he wasn’t eating enough fruits and veggies according to the doc. He hasn’t had any issues since. That said we found out last year my youngest son, one of the twins, has a leaky heart valve that he’s had since birth. The doc heard a heart murmur that no one had ever heard during one of his last appts for accutane. She sent him for a scan and called us back to let us know what they found and sent us to LeBonheur. They confirmed it and now he has to be monitored every 6 months and cannot play contact sports. I think of all those years we didn’t know and we had him playing sports. Thankfully it was baseball and basketball and nothing happened but it could have. After I found out it will have to be fixed eventually but can be done thru the artery in his groin area I felt a little better. We’ve been blessed not to of had anything major in our kids so far even though that is major to me. I’ve had friends whose kids have had major issues and have lost children so I’m thankful we haven’t. I just think we are reminded from time to time how lucky we really are. But it’s caused me to be more cautious and aware of what we eat and are exposed to. We live in the middle of soybean fields. I know we are exposed to pesticides, herbicides, & fertilizers. We did drink only bottled water because our community water system was over 20 years outdated and was supposed to of been replaced. We had leaks all the time. They finally replaced it all but with all the fields I don’t trust it. I did buy a water filter countertop system but not an osmosis because I couldn’t afford one. I spent a year researching them before buying one. I got the best one I could afford. Now the osmosis systems have come down especially the countertop models. Do you have one you recommend? And in the event that we are without power for any reason are there any gravity fed systems you would recommend just as a back up? I kid you not but I have 4 massive black lawn bags packed full of Tupperware my mom gave me in storage when she got divorced. She had an addiction that started in the 80’s and never stopped! Some of it is worth some money. Now I have an excuse to sell it. 😂 Thank you for all you do!

For most people, eradicating plastic from our lives immediately is impossible. Certainly for myself, The effort would cause more stress and harm to health then it's worth. We need to know what are the worst sources of contamination to focus on. For example, heating food in plastic is much worse then cold food in plastic containers. Cutting food on plastic is worse than scraping a spoon against plastic because the knife causes more damage. Some types of plastic are more harmful than others. I would like to see a lot more research on risk levels of all different variables.

Thanks Dr Berry for going through this in an urgent but realistic way without being overly hyperbolic. This is wild once you start to think about it. The first thing in my opinion is to get the water we drink filtered for both plastic nanoparticles and solid particles. Turns out RO water does it. Berkey type filters also do it. Carbon filter your shower water as well. Microplastics and nano plastics in the steam will be easily breathed into your lungs during your shower. Wearing natural fiber clothing is important but what's more difficult is to know what kinds of coatings are on the fabric of your store bought clothes. 100% cotton is often treated to make it whiter, give the fabric more body and make fabric have a nice sheen. Then you have your bedding. Most blankets are made from 100% synthetic or plastic. All night long you rub those blankets and breath it in. Yikes! Me too:( I'm looking to use good quality linen sheets. And good quality silk bedding also. I guess wash them well and don't use dryer sheets made of plastic. Blankets could be wool or well washed organic cotton quilts filled with wool or silk instead of polyester fiberfill. Even with all kinds of changes one will still get a lot of this stuff, but if you use products that are less likely to have microplastic and nanoplastic shedding in the items you bring near your mouth you will ingest less of it and breath a bit less of it. I know I felt overwhelmed by the potential scope of the problem and didn't want to think about finding solutions. Some changes I've already made. I need to make more.

The one thing we can do is quit buying the products put in plastics and also styrofoam. Wear natural fibers, they are higher frequency. This crap is in everything but if eating fish, eat smaller fish since they aren't in. the oceans as long as the larger ones. It's hard for the body to secrete. Corporations need to quit putting products in plastic bottles. Even if you recycle, we don't know where a lot of that goes and I think it was put on barges and then dumped in the oceans where some of it breaks down into tiny particles that fish eat and then goes through the recycle system to rain down on the earth and getting into everything. Everyone should do a parasite cleanse and metal detox and overall detoxing of the body. Shop around the edge of the store and pay attention to your meat as well or buy local. Grow your own food, start a garden. The deletes who have been running this earth have been doing their best to destroy humanity with toxins, this isn't the only thing that's been going on with our air, water and food due to the soil/GMO and all of it. I quit buying anything from the big corporations several years ago and yes, they and our governments are one big ole family of control over the masses. I don't use the microwave anymore either. I use filtered water and don't buy bottled water, buy a water filter system, less expensive.

Plastics have been ubiquitous since the 1960s. We took our school lunch in Tupperware containers and drink in beakers. How can these substances be so dangerous when many of us are now in our sixth/seventh decades and in good health, in my own case having drank, smoked and eaten junk food daily upwards of 35 years? The organism is more resilient than health professionals of whatever stripe typically acknowledge, none of which is to detract from Dr Berry’s excellent guidance or the value of carnivore/keto/IF regime generally, especially for those in middle age or later life.

It should be plainly obvious that most people are not in good health. Most people over 60 are on at least one or two meds and have several chronic diseases and inflammation. Not my definition of good health.

I have been looking into this issue recently and it seems linked with the dramatic increase of plastics everywhere. So it's more toxic simply because we are more exposed. Since the 60s the production has increased something like 50 x. I also believe it's linked to the level of processed food we are feeding our babes, when I was young biscuits and sweets were a weekly treat and only given at an older age, these days it seems (from what I have witnessed) most parents feed their kids processed food daily starting with large numbers of parents giving formula milk in plastic bottles.

@@care2crochet In my experience in 60s/70s England children generally ate *more* of what we’d now call junk food than today. Smoking among school children was also far more prevalent then. No one bothered whereas today people fear even the merest whiff of tobacco smoke. Nothing to do with health in any meaningful sense, ditto recent hysteria over plastic. Practically impossible for something to be half as toxic as Dr Berry suggests and for it to have no noticeable effect on those exposed to it constantly over decades. Its effects on aquatic life don’t alter that. Talking of which I’ve been drinking unfiltered tap water every day of my 64 years and somehow get top scores for my age on all the health metrics.

Are you suggesting no one in their 60s is dealing with “unexplained” increases in a host of chronic health issues that previous generations never experienced? 🤦🏻‍♀️

What can we do as a society, to start reversing this problem, when it is everywhere! Not only is almost everything packaged using some form of plastic, but recycling efforts cost more to process, than the money it saves doing it, and they are very restrictive as to what plastics they will accept. And on top of that, the amount of people that just don't know or care what to do with it, and it is by far the most common kind of trash that is discarded, and thrown on the ground.😔

I cut up quite a few patterns, to sew, out of fleece. I got the first and only chest infection I've ever had. Had to have antibiotics and was wheezing so much it was scary. Needless to say, it put me off sewing, completely. Even 100% cotton materials are probably sprayed with something nasty.

Pex pipe is what most homes are made with these days. The red and blue plastic pipes take water to the sinks and showers. Pex also comes in grey plastic… they are the tubes that take water to your sink facet in your bathroom. If your kitchen sink has a removable sprayer it has Pex tubing also.

My favorite dish currently is bacon chips and stew meat cooked together in a pot on the stove. I use my kitchen scissors to cut the bacon into small pieces. I also make it with pork chops, and bacon, that I cut with my scissors too. So quick, easy, and yummy!
