Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been going back and forth now for over a decade. In this video I'm breaking down all of the issues that they have had, including their interviews and of course the music!

@@KingRee-mv8iu No. I have been telling anyone who would listen for the last 10-11 years that Cole is the best. He's been talking that way also, and has been super hungry especially over the past few years, only further confirming how I felt about cole ( he's the best ). But then he goes and apologizes to the guy that I believe he has been sneakily calling out over the last little while by saying I'm the number 1 I'm the GOAT, who wants it? The second that he faced some adversity, and he got what he was asking for with Kendrick awakening, after all that talk, he folded- and badly. I don’t really get this whole idea that J. Cole is suddenly invalidated because of the apology. I think he caved into the pressure of dropping a response to a track where, let’s be honest, he wasn’t really being dissed. Sure he caught a few strays, but Kendrick never really antagonized him like he did with Drake. This meant that Cole had to force creating some inauthentic digs towards Kendrick. The problem is that there was no real hate for Cole to feed his verse with because Kendrick never actually came after him. That’s why his response came off feeling weird because the hate felt forced…and turns out it was. It’s only after he dropped the track that he realized he just forced the whole thing and that he wasn’t really the target in the first place. THAT is why he stepped it back - it was fabricated. He’s talked about how his music before FHD didn’t align with him spiritually because it was fabricated and inauthentic to please the labels. He mentioned in his apology that 7 Minute Drill made him feel like that for the first time since that inauthentic era of music. His apology has more to do with not doing fake shit than it does with rapping. I think it’s unfair to write off his GOAT status because he wasn’t really being tested since he just caught strays. If Kendrick really came after Cole specifically with some venomous hate, I have no doubt that he would have killed him on the mic and stood on business. But the truth is he just didn’t feel the hate or anger because there was nothing to be angry about. Drake, on the other hand has been and was the target of Kendrick’s real actual hate so he has real reason to drop a response because they’ve been dissing each other for so long. The fuel for rap beefs is hate not just playground competitions.
@90henrymaxАй бұрын
Well captured!
@LimeGhostieАй бұрын
Bro it doesn't have anything to do with hate. Cole said he's the best and Kendrick said prove it. Kendrick wants to spar and compete for first place. Either Cole drops a strong diss or nothing at all. He chose to drop a diss that was mediocre at best , and then took it back. No matter what his intentions are, to his fans and to the hip hop community he sounds like a hypocrite and a fake who doesn't live up to his own lyrics. It doesn't make him any less skilled, but definitely less respected. It's not that deep. It's rap. MCs compete. If you come with some weak shit, you get cooked. Cole not only dropped weak shit, he APOLOGIZED. He can't ever claim to be the best again

@@spacecadetsuniverse483 every artist rap or not get help with lines or hooks or even just inspiration. people think creativity comes from nowhere. People actually think rappers who have entourages around them don't get help. You think the entourages/other rapper friends or family don't say "that cool but if you put this with that it sounds better or just give a fire line or hook" that right there is help even if you didn't know. Some just work with professional writers. The song can come from your experience but someone can help enhance it for you it's still you but better. Like when a teacher gives you back a writing assignment and tells you what you can do to make it better. It all depends on what they do we will never know how much influence they have on a song or album

@snowylove200216 күн бұрын
Jcole was right to sit that one out, “Like That” was a bait track, not a diss track. Kendrick wanted to bait a response out of Drake and Cole: Drake being a certified insecure bitchy boy, ofc took the bait, Jcole however was actually smart and knew Kendrick was just baiting for a response from the get go!

The big difference between the stain on Cole and the stain on Drake you brought up is that Drake was at his commercial peak, but there was still a debate about who would be the top guy out of that batch of artists in the end. Atp they’re all getting ready to pass the torch so it doesn’t mean as much for ppl to slander Cole for this down the line, but I agree they probably will (all my opinion)

I’m a Kendrick fan but people are sleeping heavy on the possibilities of what Drake could bring. He could have some dirt on Kendrick, we got no idea we’ll just have to wait and see. One thing you can’t deny with Drake is that he’s never backed down from anybody, win or lose. Hip-Hop is alive again man we needed this.

I think this is different than Ghostwriting rumours. Even after the ghostwriting claims he still had his biggest years. Jcole committed career suicide he was ascending at the time. He literally reversed his arc. He stopped his own peak. I literally haven’t played the ep since he apologized!

@ajasbeatz3283Ай бұрын
Bro that's literally what he did. Now everybody disappointed. He shouldn't have released that diss track😢😢
@BTizzleАй бұрын
this is a stretch but I feel there is a world and way in which J cole may continue to spar and potentially go back at kendrick if he comes at Cole. Jermaine never actually said the words "i am sorry i did this." He said that his diss was lame because he didnt feel any type of way about dot's verse and that he just put something out bc of the pressure from fans and friends. He didn't necessarily feel bad about the way he rapped but more so that he fired a shot when that wasn't the thing he wanted to do. I agree that the lack of competitiveness from cole on that stage does make his claim to GOAThood feeble but I do think there is a way to flip it back if he responds to Kendrick's second shot or diss. An even bigger stretch could be that Cole is baiting the direct diss... "I will take it on the chin," trying to get kendrick to solely swing at him as opposed to targeting them both.
@mandarins_9194Ай бұрын
I like your theory. I don't understand this whole throw the baby out with the bath water mentality people are on. It's undeniable that he can still rap circles around half the people currently in the game. Did it disappoint me that he didn't keep the momentum YES, but am I going to trash this man and be like you're the lamest for an apology for years to come (which is bull) absolutely NOT.

I think it did. He 100% called that dot was going to come for drake's head. Nobody could have predicted that Cole would end up looking wise for bowing out.
@jayc5756Ай бұрын
Definitely not counting out Drake. He has been pretty good in his lyrical battles so far. But because the reputation of Kdot, ppl sleeping on Drake...and cause Drake is more versatile with his music in the singing and pop lane...so to a lot of ppl, it's easy to sleep on him. But I know better than to count him out. I honestly don't know what will happen between them 2, but definitely looking forward to it. So we will see.
