I’m 21 also- 12 year old me was obsessed with this album and I’m pretty sure almost every guy my age was bumping this too. In middle school I only liked it for the beats but once I got to high school and grew older the song’s meanings really opened up another chapter. IMO this is one of the most re-listenable albums ever. Also dope ass shirt Luca!

I spotted gkmc-cd in a finnish music store back in 2012. There was one left, I bought it and was like, damn (no pun intended), this dude can really rap. I was only 10 back then so i didnt really understand anything but while the time passed, I was just starting to really get into rap and listened finnish rap a lot, then got into Jay, Nas and eminem. Suddenly back in 2015 i stumbled upon into TPAB and loved it. Then I remembered that I have the gkmc-cd somewhere in the house and after few hours i found it. GKMC is still my fav hiphop album ever, the nostalagia might be one of the reasons because I listened it during my early school years but the album is ofc amazing. Fun fact, my first mixtape has a bar about gkmc: ” Luupil Lamar koko yläkoulun, kunnes tunti alkaa Jengil varmaan tuttu albumi, kiltti lapsi, hullu kaupunki” ”Listened Lamar on a loop my whole jr high school, until the lesson starts A familiar album to many, good kid, maad city”

Well done. I appreciate that you acknowledged that you wouldn't give a perfect score so carelessly...but I think its important to have a gold standard by which to judge other albums, and as far as the 2010's go, I dont think theres a better album than this one. I should mention, when this album came out, I had already been listening to Kendrick for two years and was a big fan based on OD and Section 80, and was actually a little wary of this album, worried Kendrick was getting lured into a mainstream style. I'm truly glad to say I couldn't have been more wrong, and I appreciate this album now more than ever.

Totally agree guys, such an iconic album and the reason why Kendrick has the one of the best discographies If not the best in my opinion

I honestly think that Kendrick should make a visual movie on the album because it really is cinematic😱.

It could be his biopic when he’s ready to make one I guess

When I’m hearing to s.a.m.I.d.o.t, it’s really heartbreaking with the context of the album because its showing Kendrick that if he really made the right decisions or not, and at the end of the first part, he’s friend ended up getting killed and finally realizing that this has gone too far and in the second part, he is tired of all of these events and needs help. This is one of the best rap songs of all time and best storytelling in music history.
