Gotta remember basketball has always been a big man's game (duh), until MJ. Edit: With the spreading of the court and the amount of three shots, the NBA 's top stars are big men, Luka, Porzingis, etc. Ngl, the teams that beat me the most or the most pertinent times were the suburban "white boy" teams that would "live or die by the 3." And this was way before Shuttleworth, Wardell Jr., Miller. Back in the day we took it strong to the hole, and like Coach Kane said, "?There's only 3 things that will happen when you drive...You're going to make it, get blocked, or get 2 free-throws.

Uncut Hoops, I'm going to contest your claim that 38yo LeBron > 38yo Jordan. If you watch examples of the games they played at that age, you'll see Jordan doing a LOT more on the court that isn't always measured by the stat sheet than LeBron -- hustling back on defense, making intelligent help defense decisions, boxing out for rebounds, fighting for rebounds, constantly moving off-ball, etc. When you watch LeBron he stands around a LOT on offense AND defense, has a habit of being slow to run to the defense side of the court, and despite being a big strong forward he doesn't fight down low for rebounds or box out very much. He leaves AD to do that a lot more, which is cheating his teammates. LeBron's stopped playing a lot of the basketball fundamentals and uses his power with this organization to stat-pad. It's not winning basketball, and it's part of why he was swept last postseason. To my eye test, Jordan was better at this age because of all those untracked fundamentals. Stats can be misleading.

Don't forget that LeBron doesn't create offense when the ball is in his hands. If it isn't the layup drill or the gimmicky dunks that he does, it's to have the ball on the perimeter, hold on to it for about 5 seconds and jack up a horrible 3 pointer and doesn't get back in defense when his team needs him to be able to do to prevent any transition points on the other end.

For one, when someone close to you like a parent dies, you do things in their honor. Jordan's dad always wanted him to play baseball, and that's what he did, it's amazing how all these years later, I never thought anyone would ever hold that against him.

My Lebron v. Jordan longevity argument: Do your work early, you won't have to stay late. One guy came back for the love of the game and the desire to possibly get ownership of the Wizards, while the other is trying to chase the legacy of someone who retired 20yrs ago.

Let’s not forget also that Jordan was scoring his points on midrange, not clear outs to the basket in a no touch era like Lebron

Also it's not a fair comparison. Scoring average at 38 while playing all the matches on a bad team vs Scoring average at 38 playing only 55 matches on a top team, it's not the same deal !

If MJ played in todays game, his stats would be ASTRONOMICAL!!!!! Way better than Anyone in NBA history!! Back when Jordan played, they played a thing called DEFENSE and it was rough!!! Now, you can’t even hand check a guy without being called for a foul!!! The league is catering to offense…

Basketball in the 80’s to 90’s was a more physical game period. Today’s game is softer, less physical. People don’t play defense in today’s game. Big contracts and sit out big nationally televised games!

I wouldn't even say 38 yr old LeBron is better than Wizards Jordan first because of who they both had as teammates at that age . Second and foremost, look at all the years Jordan carried the Bulls on his back. No discredit to Jordan's teammates but if you don't think Jordan's all out effort on offense and defense for all those years didn't deteriorate his body then we must haven't thought of that. 6 straight Championships bro plus the years they didn't win, playing at top peak. In other words if Jordan was a pass first guy as LeBron is supposed to be, Jordan's body probably would've held up extended years beyond the Wizards uniform. But Jordan wasn't a pass first guy, he was a finisher and a takeover guy.

@craigtennant13457 ай бұрын
I think the big part is the post injury, LeBron would not play post injury until he was 100% which is a huge part of his longevity. Jordan always put the team and fans ahead of himself and his body paid the price, anyone that thinks retirement would have helped hasn't tried to make a comeback at any sporting level at age 38. That in itself is incredible

If I’m a GM I’d trade a 1st round draft pick for a 38yr old MJ who took a 19 win team and had them competing for a 1 seed in the East the very next year until he tore 12 tendons in his knee. Conversely I have no use for 38 yr old Lebron coming in to teach my young players how to pad stats, rest on defense, and gratuitously cry and and complain to referees. I mean, if I’m not the team owner and unconcerned about the tickets and jerseys Lebron will help sell, why in gods name would I want an old man who takes off 1/3 of the regular season games, cherry picking ones that won’t hurt his stats, and when he does play it’s only on one half of the floor, rarely getting back on defense so he can get himself easy buckets on offense bc he knows better than anyone how atrocious his jumper is. Dude only makes 35% of shots outside the restricted area but somehow it’s his teammate who gets labeled “Westbrick”
@TinoR6267 ай бұрын
People tend to leave out MJ also lead the league 3 times in steals, he retured as the 2nd all time but is now 4th but has the highest steels per game average at 2.35. James is at 1.54 steels per game average playing over 300 more game with over 200 less steels.

@wizmanballin84987 ай бұрын
Whenever Klutch flunkies use "quit", its reverse psychology. They know LeBum habitually quits when the going gets tough, so they flip it on a weak argument to make it appear Lebron really doesn't do just that..."quit". We've been watching that chump long enough to know he quits the minute he gets on the floor if it doesnt go his way. Diva Extraordinaire.
@agirotto17 ай бұрын
LbJ is 20 years younger. Today's medicine, sports training, drugs and nutrition are a lot more advanced, so this longevity isn't unheard of. Tom Brady and Cristiano Ronaldo are very dedicated guys who took themselves as long as they could with the help of proper technique. Jordan didn't have that. And that comes from a Pistons fan. LOL.

Has any other GOAT player from other sports leagues been consistently torn down and had their careers diminished as much as Jordan? Seems like it’s ESPN’s monthly mission to tear Jordan down to build up Lebron. ESPN glossing over the MURDER!!!…of MJ’s dad is a disgusting tactic in itself.
@jaymiles817 ай бұрын
Also true athletes know that continuously playing a sport, and coming back after a 3 year layoff at that age is WAY different. Still Jordan was cooking pretty good.
@Nothereman99997 ай бұрын
What's worse, quitting after you win your organization a title like Jordan or quitting in the middle of a finals game because JR Smith made you mad like LeBron? Myself, I wouldn't expect ANYONE to play a season when they aren't feeling up for it. What I do expect is while you do play, you give maximum effort and that's the difference between LeBron and Jordan. No matter what issues Jordan had with teammates and the organization, he always showed up to play and he always played his best. LeBron is a great player but that dude does NOT always play his best and that's especially true when he has issues with teammates or the organization. I've seen LeBron quit on his team in the middle of a game, I've SEEN LeBron quit in the middle of playoff games, I've never seen that from MJ, even if the Bulls were having a bad game that never happened
@snakebitten69677 ай бұрын
Only Lebron and his fans can find fault with someone who takes time off to not only mourn his father who was murdered during the season, but also to pursue his fathers dream of him playing pro baseball. This is the reason he retired the first time. Quitting would be after his father died, he left the bulls mid season, which would have been understandable. Lebron and many of his fans didn’t have a “dad” in their lives so they have zero understanding of this truth. The truth of the matter is, MJ finished the season with MVP in playoffs AND with the championship which completed a threepeat. This is what LeMedia has to resort to to find some way of disparaging MJ. The fact that the league allows them to do this with no pushback speaks volumes as to who is running the show there. Second retirement. How can you fault Jordan for leaving when that louse Krause wanted the breakup his b-ball family? Krause had to be the dumbest front office person ever. Bulls were unbeatable and you have the goat on your team. He refused to pay Scottie what he was worth abd wanted to ax Phil. So he left, but after completing ANOTHER THREEPEAT. How is that quitting? When Lebron quits on his teams in games when they could still win or disappears because the moment was too big for him or when he quits on his friends because they were injured, that’s excused and praised. But MJ legit retiring after accomplishing 2 THREEPEATS is quitting. Why do people continue to listen to Lebrons childish rants through his proxies Perkins, Wright, Paul, Reddick, Cowherd, Arenas, Keyshawn etc? Nothing that they say is real or factual. Are people that dumb today to believe this nonsense?

If labron was going against the Piston bad boys, his career would have been shorter. You watch that era, and dudes are just getting bodied goin' to the hoop.
@jaykyungchung24977 ай бұрын
main difference between the two icons of two different eras. hard work and do any and everything to WIN vs play smart for your own self, not the team because you deserve it. After all, the media and people are bought with and played by money in this soft but very offensive and defensive entitled mindset generation who don't care much about honor, dignity, determination, honesty, loyalty and any thing of that sort. LeQueen is the prime example and representation of the generation and thus adored by both the media and the people. I fking hate that about him and his worshippers. I don't see anything to respect his game, non- creative, just one way freight train standing around for chance to stat pad. Media only complimenting and brainwashing after that skirmish acts and people chant after his highlights but look away from his obvious lowlights. there is nothing respectable left to watch today; the players, the media, the league, and the fans

@jamalcorbin55425 ай бұрын
Only thing is add is something that gets consistently overlooked when it comes to MJ playing with the Wizards. Athletes don’t really benefit from sitting out three years, particularly at that age. You can’t recover the conditioning that is lost, and all of a sudden ramping up to play at a professional level has not often proven to be a successful venture. That probably contributed to Mike getting injured, then he still played 82 games the next year.
@jolli41167 ай бұрын
Quit because his been beating the league. Did not quit because he’s losing. Came back and win three more. Quit twice while he’s winning.
@jeffreystone227 ай бұрын
I will never understand how Lebron is even top 10. The more they talk about him being the GOAT, the more I see other people's careers in detail and realize that he isn't that great compared to other legends. He's more of a bull in a China shop. He's not a great 3 point shooter, sucks at free throws, travels and flops like no other, footwork and post moves are limited, defense hasn't been there for most of the time since he left Miami, and absolutely no WOW factor for most of his career. When he peaked at Miami I thought he was going to be a lot more, but outside of beating GS in 2016 he hasn't accomplished much since then. MJ and Wilt will always be my 1 and 2 and that is a very close 1 and 2, then some separation after that. Kendrick and Nick Wright are so off here.
