Tool is an American rock band from Los Angeles. Formed in 1990, the group's line-up includes drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Justin Chancellor has been the band's bassist since 1995, replacing their original bassist Paul D'Amour.
Vocal coach REACTS: Pneuma - has been created in the hope that you may learn how to harness your own vocal capabilities and be able to make smart, informed choices on stage that enhance your performance.

Saw them recently, and it was the normal band setup completely inverted. Drums on a pedestal center stage flanked by the guitarists on either side and Maynard slinking around in the background. Danny is really the star of the show. That said, they really do play _together_ and their songs pass the motif between all four members.

My friend used to tell me this band, specifically Danny Carey runs percussive marathons. But you're right. This is sorcery. When I was a child listening to Tool, it used to frustrate me because the meter wasn't easily predictable. As I grew older, I realized this was one of the reasons why it's magical.

Carey takes what Peart started into the stratosphere. Peart hit his innovation peak on Hold Your Fire, then mostly fell into a rock-rut that, drum solos aside, saw him play the same stuff over and over again with diminishing technical demand. Carey, though? He goes far beyond any of the polyrhythmic, independence, odd time, and speed experimentations that Peart ever undertook in his songs. Plus, he’s always innovating. He never repeats parts in his songs, unlike Peart, who played that La Villa Strangiato ride pattern a million times over and repeated a ton of other parts in his tracks following Hemispheres.

In the midst of all of that, the band is playing a simple 4/4 time... all the while, you’ll notice that Danny is keeping the hi hat going at the same 4/4 the band is playing while he is doing his 3/4 triplet progression with his arms. Same I can remember the day, where I was, how I felt on my first tool song in June 17, 1994 in Margate NJ. I was depressed because I had to visit my mother who was crazy, and I was awake watching MTV, Sober came on. That was when I became a fan. I have seen them 2, bought tickets 6 times (got deployed or forced to the field 4 out of the 6 times I have bought tickets). Last time was right here in Nashville in January with my 17 year old who is also a TOOL fan. We geeked out and I cried again.
