There are a lot of beatboxers that get lost in technicality, that's why I'm glad you found gene and show-go, they chill and just make good music. When you get into battles it gets much more technical and crammed full of stuff

Actually, the approximately 20-25 sounds Show-Go uses in this track are a tiny percentage of the total amount any professional beatboxer knows how to do. It is not about showing off every sound you know, it's about creating a musical piece that sounds good, and if that means you have to use the same 2 snare sounds throughout it and not use the other 8 snares you know how to do, that's exactly what you do. That's how a beatboxer shows "restraint" with sounds. Great question though Ken. PS: In less than a week from today, the Swissbeatbox channel will start dropping the official videos from the very recent Grand Beatbox Battle 2021 in which the best beatboxers in the world went head to head. I would really like it if you covered some of them and came in contact with some more "technical" beatboxing and different styles.

Plus, professional beatboxers know many many sounds, but they usually use the ones they mastered at its best, specially in live competitions. Show go is a very good exemple of very well mastered sounds on his routines, witch makes it sound so clean and fluid.

3:08 this is probably one of the biggest things that separates good beatboxers from great beatboxers. restrain of using all sounds you have. There are beatboxers who make fantastic routines like Show-Go, who use maybe 10-20% of the sounds they can actually do, and there are beatboxers (I won't name any names) who just spam random flashy sounds and hope something sticks, completely disregarding almost everything else. You can also see it when they do include singing passages, buildups, etc... they try to get through them as fast and possible to get back to the flashy soundspam. They don't beatbox for the art, but to be flashy. That's why there are so many good beatboxers, but only a handful of amazing beatboxers.
@Blaze72sH

On rofu's youtube channel, Show-go said he composes those music, first by putting random difficult sound together and repeat it. By the time his mouth will get used to the combination and than he switch to create a music using the combination. Rofu, which is a friend of Show-go who is also doing beatbox channel, once asked show-go '' How do you come up with the combination?'' and show-go said ''It just drop out of the cloud''. I guess his sense of combining those sound is outstanding. I enjoy his second channel which is called ''Show go dairy'' too. I always thought he is quiet person, but on his second channel, he talks a lot and he is really fun making all the jokes.

SHOW-GO has to be my favourite artist at the moment. He makes these great beatbox songs (and also some great not beatbox music), everytime he puts a new song on spotify it goes straight into my daily playlist. The best part is he is deliberately not using his full sound library, instead only using what he needs to make a great song, but then he puts in these little flex sections to remind you how skilled he acctually is. He has been good for years now, but he has really stepped it up to a whole new level in the last year. It seems so insane that someone who just turned turned 22 (as in literally yesterday as I'm writing this) has so much talent. If anyone reading this enoyed his video you should go find him on spotify, the dude deserves the support. Love you seeing you equally as mystified and impressed as I am. Btw he is holding a Hyotan, more commonly just called a gourd. It is seen as a good luck symbol in Japanese culture, also good for holding some wine or Sake :).

so imagine the usage of sounds like instruments in a studio. Only because you have guitars, drums, keyboards, voice, trumpets, trombones, violins, anything you can imagine, you dont use all of them when you create a track just because they're there. It's good to have them for whenever you need them, but you dont always use them.

About retraining : People who have less experience in battles definitely are tempted in using as much sounds as possible for that wow factor and the complexity. Proffesionals would sometimes save some sounds or split them to show variations in routines because using them all in 1 routine would kinda kill you in the long run. However, from a musicality standpoint from people like showgo, the routine itself would not have to kill. Music is subjective afterall and so I would think they suppress their capabilities to bring good music rather than a "battle" styled routine that uses sounds that ruptures what their conception of music is. This is my personal thoughts on it.
