​@stevehamman4465 a city manager typically is in charge of the all the local government decisions and operations of the city. They are the executive officer who oversees all the departments and their respective directors/chiefs. When a department wants propose changes for the upcoming year, they will present the proposal to city manager and he or she will present it to council. A mayor is an elected local politician ( voted in by residents) who represents the public face of a city or town. They are the ones who address the residents or media and they little no executive power. Council members are also elected officials who ultimately will say yay or nay to government proposals presented by the city manager

And why the media is helping cover up the real story by not interviewing ANY of the officers! Strange, isnt it??

And the other police departments have so much free time they can spend it driving to calls in another town.. 24 x 7.. Major cities cannot hire police and they offer high salaries, benefits & retirements.. And the 8 person Kenly department was understaffed before Ms. Jones was hired.

That may be true but more than likely none are the size and location of Kenly. There's a major interstate and drug corridor running through the city (I-95) as well as 4 large travel plazas.

And none of them have 113 calls for policing services within just a 5 day window. I know several decently sized towns that dont get that many calls for service in an entire year. If ever I heard of a town that needs a dedicated police department, this sounds like the place.

Police and full time fire fighters cannot "walk off the job" or " go on strike" anywhere in the United States. It's an actual criminal charge if they do, which is why you've never seen any police officers on strike etc. These cops quit thier jobs. That's completely different then going on strike because the Union officials want them to. For the obvious reasons police and fire (fulltime) cannot go on strike. There's also criminal charges in every single state for Mayor's or town administrators (or whatever the woman's position is called here) interfering with the day to day operations of the police department. It's up to the police chief to document and contact the district attorney or county prosecutor (they are called differently in each state, but do the same thing) and have them investigate the claim. I wonder why the news didn't contact the county to find out what the issues are. They have to know what the main problem is. Everyone quit their jobs, it didn't happen over night. Then again, they will sell more newspapers if it's a race issue. We all know it's probably typical political boring stuff having to do with money. 😂
