SADDLING TIPS
When I take my saddle off, I rig it up so that it's ready to put back on. I like to put the cinches and breast collar where they are out of the way and I'm not risking hitting my horse or another person when I throw my saddle on his back. Before putting any tack on, I like to go over my horse's body with my hand and check to make sure there are no sore spots. I also like to keep the hair roached on his withers to prevent any unnecessary pulling.
Pad Placement: I like to have a little pad behind the saddle. I lift the center of the pad in the front and back to create a pocket for air to flow.
Saddle Placement: I want a flush fit, and I want the saddle sitting where the front cinch will go directly into the girth area (rather than in front or behind). Regardless of the rigging, the cinch will always go to the girth area because it is the most narrow part of the body.
Front Cinch: If the buckle on the front cinch comes right to the center of the canon bone when it's hanging down, it's going to fit. I like to get my front cinch snug, then check it again later prior to getting on. I often just use the buckle to cinch my horse, but I think a latigo knot is the safest bet.
Back Cinch: I want my back cinch snug for safety. If your horse is not used to a back cinch, get him in a round pen and help him get used to it before getting on.
Breast Collar: I also want my breast collar to be snug, but loose enough to run my hand underneath. The breast collar will work best when it is rigged to be low, on the center of his chest, and snug.
I hope these saddling tips help you and your horse have a comfortable and safe ride. Until next time, may God bless the trails you ride!

I like the way she did it the first time. She didn’t drop it on the horses back suddenly. I don’t like it when people sling the saddle up there and it drops on the horse suddenly

I just tried this. I have a question though. My right arm is weaker than the left, so would this work if I reversed it to save the stress on my arm/shoulder? Saddling from the right side of my horse! Big problem I see here is, that both my front and back girths will probably now drag on the ground... not a good idea. I love this video, and all of your other videos. BTW, I just have a physical challenge with this one and need your help/advice sir. Thanks, and may God also bless the trails you ride. P.s. Are you getting that one horse for Dee Dee for her Christmas present? You should ..... I think she really wanted him. That video you both did part 1 and 2 about rollbacks are my favorites. I love when you and Dee Dee are teacher and student. Just love the videos you both share with all of us. God bless, and I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan Mr. MCNabb and thanks for all your wonderful how to videos. My horse and I have come a long way together. Thank you Sir 🙏🐴

Dude horse people got all the answers and they all know everything! Love it but I set my saddle on my girlfriend's horses in a slow controlled manner like setting a bucket of water on top of a ledge. And I dont think her horses would care if ken mcnabb did it of if john Wayne did it on a movie set. I'm just a dumb dirtbike rider and we dont know much.

And as a side note I think Clinton Anderson would be telling this guy his horse is out of control and and disrespectful
