Hey! I'm 30 and have osteonecrosis in my hips and knees and probably more joints. I was wondering how this affects (if it does) your knees? I see there's a slight bend in the knee and occasional squats here. I was wondering if you're able to take that strain? I'm on a wheelchair too, but I hope to start this when i recover, whenever that may be (or if lol hopefully)

I'm nearly 70 and haven't been dancing in about 10 years, though I did African dances from West Africa in my 30s. I started this and can only do 5 minutes before I'm breathing heavily. But I'll be doing it until I can do the whole routine. Love this, love your teaching methodology, and if I were still dancing, I'd dance over to the drummer and touch the ground in tribute. Ashe. Thank you for this. Perfection.

At uni a white former classical ballerina got into African/Cuban type dance and gathered a troup of dancers who loved all these African inspired rhythms and just watching them enjoy dancing and all these unusual rhythms got me hooked too, and when invited to join in, I jumped at the opportunity. I had never experienced anything like this before. It felt like a nature force owns and commands your body, not you or your mind and the rhythm tells it what move to do next. It is very liberating, emotionally and, of course, keeps you very fit. I would have done it forever but, sadly, that troupe wandered around a lot and soon moved on. And there was nowhere to do this sort of dancing. With dance, I thought no you really do need to feel inspired and motivated by the music. Some dance music is just so boring and uninspiring. It needs a good rhythm, some sort of grace or excitement etc, whether it be fast or slow, traditional or modern. African music has very good rhythms and actually is the basis for our western rock style music, with its distinctive driving beat. I think it hot in via the earlier negro blues musicians descended from Africa, which then gave us jazz which eventually gave us the basis for earlier rock music styles. And, listening to some African music, I was surprised and how it sometimes sounded like our western jazz and rock styles, even though it was traditional African folkloric style music. It sounded strangely and pleasantly modern, though the songs and dances were very old ones passed down through tr ibal generations.
