I never considered him a jazz player. He's more of a pop player. But call it what you want he writes beautiful melodies and performs them on an incredibly hard instrument. 100 years from now people will still be listening and interpreting his music. Kenny G is definitely one of the greats.

I'm so excited to watch "Listening to Kenny G" airing today at 8PM on HBO. Kenny has always impressed me in regards to his dedication to making sure his sound is his and uniquely distinctive proof in the pudding he's a beast with that Saxophone. Unmatched in all categories rather you love him or love to hate him 75 million albums sold says it all. Critics will be critics, but Kenny G will be known as one of the best Sax players of all time. When you listen to his music you automatically know who the artist behind it is. Jazz is designed to make your heart feel all kinds of emotions, if you can make people happy then you've achieved your goal. I appreciate how Kenny didn't allow critics to defer him from being true to his talent of producing music that felt right in his heart which resonated with his fans. I'm overjoyed to learn more about the artist who I really enjoy listening to every day, and to me being the fan the consumer, (my opinion) he's one of the greatest ever to play the Sax. Great interview from Lyndsey Parker and Yahoo Entertainment. Butterfly 🦋

I saw him in concert recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. He played both his hits, but also some Stan Getz, Coltrane, and Average White Band to give us sax education. Plus he highlighted all the excellent musicians in his band giving them solos. I loved the way he interacted with the audience and moved around the venue to be up close to everyone. I got to meet him and he's just a really great guy, as well as phenomenal sax player.

Talented even in business as heard. Critics change opinions. Clive Davis, George Benson’s opinions are more important. Great to have memories. You are humble after all you’ve done in life. Beautiful!

Wonderful interview and I loved the documentary. My parents had Kenny G’s albums and we just loved his music, we also had George benson and other jazz records and we didn’t differentiate. These critics need to reevaluate their careers

It's weird for me when I hear ppl says he's not a jazz music. Music has no boundaries. To me he explore more and add so much more than just raw jazz. He is special because he combines music together. There's no rule in music.

I do NOT understand the objections to Kenny G. I've loved his style since he was with Jeff Lorber Fusion.

As a jazz musician I never understood all the hate towards Kenny G in the community. People who listen to Kenny G wouldn't be caught dead listening to John Coltrane or Miles Davis, so clearly his audience is completely different. Another clue that lets you know Kenny G is not a jazz musician is the fact that he is rich and famous, there is no such thing as a rich and famous jazz musician, the only other person that comes to mind is Chris Botti, also not a jazz musician. Being angry at Kenny G would be like opera singers being angry at Andrea Bocelli, not an opera singer. Even though I don't personally like Kenny G's music I respect his work and the fact that he is so famous because if we are going to argue over who deserves to be famous and who doesn't, Kenny G wouldn't be the first name on my mind.

That someone like kenny g has this huge success and more sophisticated music has not... that is not a suprise at all. I dont want to say that the majority of people is stupid, but they have a less specialized taste. Thats probably also true for wine, cars, sports, news sources ... everything.
