Not like he is going to be putting up ALL PRO stats anyway down there. He had Ben for the beginning of his years, granted an old Ben. Still, he is talented and but just not a true no.1 WR nor will ever be. Hope people realize how great Ben was now. Ben made mediocre WRs look great, not the other way around. Steeler Nation will have to be patient. Another Ben is not coming anytime soon. He was one of a kind anyway. Like a Troy. A true franchise QB isn't coming anytime soon would be simpler to say. Unless we trade for one. Even then, that couldn't work. Can't just get a great QB from another team, they have to be able to be a good fit to the team too.

I also think it was a poor knee jerk decision by KP8 with little thought involved. Wilson may only be here one season, he may be great or maybe not. Even KP knows he had a lot to learn and being around Wilson could have helped him. Rudolph was gone so he was no longer an obstacle to Pickett. He should have embraced the situation and took the opportunity to improve and move forward instead of fleeing with his tail between his legs. KP proved to everyone that he isn’t the guy Steelers we’re looking for long term.

And for all of Rudolph's resilience, his hard work, what did that get him? Getting kicked to the curb as well. The current Steelers regime know nothing of loyalty, so why should players be loyal to them? Happy for both Kenny and Mason to have opportunities elsewhere.

In the end, intentionally or otherwise, the Steelers did right by Kenny Pickett: they traded him to a fairly good organization. Yes, he's a back-up, but for a team that has a running QB and similar to how Pickett liked to operate. And, the way that Jalen Hurts plays, he might get to play a little more than if behind a strictly pocket guy because of injury possibility. Not wishing it to happen, but running QBs tend to have a higher injury risk. Hope Pickett gets his stuff together, and goes-on to a good career.

@wv47764 ай бұрын
Even if there wasn’t going to be a competition it’s not like the Steelers were in any way committed to Russ. He could’ve been a pro about it, sat for a year, develop, reset and then compete for 2025 with either a redeemed Russ who might be pricy or a later pick or low tier free agent. Either way he would’ve been set up pretty solid for 2025. Now he’s basically guaranteed he’s a backup for the rest of his rookie contract and more likely than not the rest of his career. Which will be a short career if he can’t drop the ego.
@theRome2814 ай бұрын

Better to do this quick and move on as you mentioned Alex, admit the mistake and move on. I'm thinking the Steelers in the course of last season came to the conclusion (not that they would admit it publicly) that Pickett probably wasn't going to develop in to a franchise guy, were probably willing to give him a chance to compete for QB1, but after signing Russ, if KP didn't like that and wanted to move on, it made it easy for the Steelers to do so. I look at examples of SF and the Rams. SF moved all the way up to 3rd overall to draft Lance. After two years they traded him, he got less of an opportunity than Kenny did, but they knew he wasn't their QB1. Rams went to the SB with Goff, but traded him because they believed they could win a SB with Stafford. They may strike out with Russ, but at least the Steelers are trying, not just hoping Kenny will get better.

The long-term answer to me is not Justin Fields. If you get him this year I think it’s like three or 4 million and I think it’s like 15 or so more next year if you pick up his fifth year option? I could be wrong about that so correct me. The one thing I always cling to is why go get a guy like Russell, and then trade veteran valuable pieces like Deontay Johnson, creating more holes in the offense. I just don’t get it. To me when you get a guy like that you’re saying we’re in win now mode not Wait 2 years down the line mode. Some people might still have trust in Omar. Mine isn’t there. I thought he done really good last year but this year it’s not really coming into focus.

@@misterwirez7731 but as soon as he had a chance, he played great. It's a wonder he didn't become gun shy and mistake prone, but he didn't. He was reading defenses and hitting difficult throws all over the field. He can definitely still be the guy, but Tomlin blew even this after his millionth chance. And the media and fans are already forgiving him despite all his failures.

what a stupide trade you traded a a number one pick for basically for two 7th round choices go Browns

Kenny gave up and quit. Check your ego at the door and learn from a pro bowl superbowl champion. Bad look for Kenny. He knew he would lose that competition.

Kenny got lied to by the master bullshitter, called it out, and got thrown under the bus. Bad look until the truth eventually gets out. We'll see.

Picked up his ball and went home. What character? Huh? Tells you everything you need to know about him. Couldn’t watch for a year and learn. Adios

I'm disappointed, both signing Wilson and Trading Pickett. I was figuring they'd give KP 1 more year to prove it. Now we have a 36 year QB on his 3rd team in 4 years. And nobody else. Now they have to spend a high draft pick on QB when they still have a lot of other holes to fill. I don't think this team was just a QB away from being super bowl contenders, now everything after 2024 is a huge unknown.
