If you've watched my show at all, you know how much I love Halloween. So on this week's show, I thought it would be fun to start a short series on making some halloween decorations. We start it all off this week, with a 6' tall grim reaper decoration for your yard. I hope you enjoy the show.

When you make as many things and large decorations as I do Jim, you HAVE to have storage in mind when creating something new. It's the first question my wife asks when I run a show idea past her....."and where are you going to put THIS one?" LOL. Thanks for tuning in to the show and taking the time to leave your comment. It's very much appreciated.

@@acutabove_woodworkings Although I really appriciate Halloween decorations we focuss more on Christmas. We live on a corner lot on the river so we get to decorate the front side and back yards and yes a LED video tree on the end of the dock lol. It is so much fun to do and to listen to the young kids when they go by is priceless, which I am sure you get as well on your yard at Halloween.

@acutabove_woodworkings Жыл бұрын
Sure, why not? Sewing is a whole lot of fun. I made a replica of a Conestoga wagon years ago and I had to sew the canvas for the covered section of the wagon. I even sewed burlap to make the grain and feed bags. I loved it and my wife was jealous of how I could sew a perfectly straight hem. I think that the practice on the scroll saw made me better at the sewing machine. I don't do it often, but I do enjoy it when I sew. Thanks for tuning in Rose and for taking the time to leave your comment. I truly appreciate it.

Nice work. One thing I've done to reduce the weight of my projects last like this is I fill the bottom half of my bucket with dirt, sand or concrete, set my post and then fill the top half with expanding foam. It keeps the post steady, provides the weight to hold the proo in place and saves my back from having to transport 50 lbs of concrete

@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 2 жыл бұрын
@@thephantomhaunter5454 The best tip I can give on this one is keep the frame simple but strong. Make sure that it can hold the weight of the pumpkins. Also, if you are going to add wiring, make sure that it is protected from your moving parts. A pinched wire can really put a damper on your project. I'd love to see it when you are done. Feel free to send photos to kennye@acutabovewoodworkings.com. Good luck with your project.

@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 2 жыл бұрын
That is a fantastic idea Richard. With this whole "social distancing" thing that's been going on during the pandemic, we made a candy chute last years that had an illuminated skull at the end of it. So the children could hold out their treat bags and my wife could send candy through the chute and it would exit out of the skull's mouth and into their bag. It was really well received but I also like this idea about the candy bucket from the Reaper. Thanks for tuning in and for taking the time to chime in with your suggestion.

@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 2 жыл бұрын
The weight of that canvas drop cloth André is quite a bit of a load for a 2X2. Not to mention to possibility of the arm joint splitting with the weight of the lantern on it. With that being said, the show was produced to inspire people to make their own and if you wish to make yours using 2X2 lumber instead of the 2x4 lumber that I demonstrate in this show, then by all means, do it. It's your project and you can make it however you like. The important thing is that you make it. Thanks for tuning in to the show and chiming in with your opinion. It's appreciated.
