Testing the Kent Bathroom softener and measuring water hardness. We have used this for about 8 months now. In this video I will test the water quality before and after using this softener using a water testing kit.

Informative video, however i have some questions. 1. Does it affect the pressure of water coming from the taps? 2. Does it reduce the soap scum that is usually there on the floor after taking bath in hard water? 3. Do you notice a difference in the quality of hair and skin after using the soft water from this product?
@PaiTech

1. It did not affect water pressure for us. 2. Yes. White spots on the floor has significantly reduced/eliminated 3. Definite improvement. Difference in Texture of hair after a shower is very noticeable

Thank you so much for making this video. You mentioned we need to regenerate the water in 10-15 days depending on usage of water. Could you please explain it a bit? Is there any limit for water softening? I was told by kent representative that we need to put salt every 18 days and there is no limitation in usage of water.
@PaiTech
@PaiTech 3 жыл бұрын
There is no limit for water softening. You can do it as frequently as needed. The Kent representative advised us that once in 2 weeks regeneration is sufficient, but my practical experience doesn't stand true to that. I have 2 if these at home and I regenerate weekly and I'm happy with the water quality. When I used to do the same one in 2 weeks, the water quality used to go back to being hard after 8 to 9 days. Again, it does depend on the actual quantity of water that is used.

You calculated the hardness of water as 250 after the softening process, Isn't the ppm too high to call it soft? Google tells me that water above 100-150 ppm is considered hard.
@PaiTech
@PaiTech 2 жыл бұрын
It is lesser than 250.. The water needs to be let out during regeneration for 2 to 3 minutes. I did not do so diligently whilst shooting this video. My recent test gave me a value of less than 100. Its been 1.5 years since we've bought this and I've noticed that the frequency of regeneration has increased. I now have to do this process twice a week. But note that the water in my apartment is atrociously hard at 1200ppm.

The limit of the test kit in this video is 500 ppm (max). 3:15 You went beyond that. I don't know how reliable these results are. For those interested, there is a kit that goes up to 1000 ppm in steps of 50 which will be more accurate if your ppm is over 500 pm. We can see the error in the results. The max this softener can reduce ppm by is 500. So if the result was 250 ppm then real hardness most likely was 750 not 700
@PaiTech
@PaiTech Жыл бұрын
The results won't differ. The number of drops needed to measure the hardness beyond 500 will be more with this kit. Post regeneration the hardness reduces and hence I purchased this kit as it can give me required testing results. Hope that clarifies
@johndoe-vc1we
@johndoe-vc1we Жыл бұрын
@@PaiTech then they could have increased the limit and not made a seperate kit that goes to 1000. Also, 1000 ppm one uses steps of 50 and there is no 5-100 like yours has. I'm wondering whether the 450 is because the resin might have degenerated a bit. That will happen with time. How old was the softener when you did the test? If it was only a few months old then the test is inaccurate. Much older than it's not.
@PaiTech
@PaiTech Жыл бұрын
@@johndoe-vc1we Precisely. That’s why I went for this kit as I wanted to test in steps of 5. The softener was about 6 to 7 months old if I remember correctly. It’s been a while since I uploaded this video 😅 But yeah, the resin does degrade and I had to replace the same after 1 year. I’ve upgraded the model since then to an automatic and the company claims this one doesn’t need the resin to be changed at all. So fingers crossed!
