It was after the WS win, spring training in Ft Myers, my mother handed my baby brother over the fence to Kent with a sharpie and asked him to sign my brother’s shirt. He asked “Are you sure your mom won’t get upset?” She replied “I am his mom”. Kent then proceeds to get the entire dugout to sign my brother’s shirt, with the exception of Shane Mack who actually just signed my brother’s arm.

I was a kid in 1987. Kent was a local hero. I took my family mini golfing in Bloomington a few years ago and Kent and his family were just ahead of us. He was so low key. I didn’t make a scene. My daughter putted one a Kent was goofing around waving his arms hoping her put would come close. Just an awesome dude. Thanks Kent, for being a real hero to a lot of Minnesota kids.

One of my favorite all-time Twins player. Outstanding defense and absolutely clutch in the batter’s box when it was needed most. And to this day, I still think he never pulled Gant off the bag, but was just acting instinctively as he saw Gant coming off the bag. The double tag on him as he is coming off the bag proves that to me.

The more you look at it, Hrbek was trying to keep the tag applied on Gant & Gant's own momentum caused him to lose his balance. I can understand why Gant might've been upset....but I guess you're opted to keep the tag on the base runner & there's nothing at all wrong with that.

4:01 I’ve seen so many game winning home runs off Tom Neidenfuer. He must of had good stuff to be around so long but he got tagged a lot in big moments.

I’ll never forget when Ron Gant viscously attacked him during the 91 series. Luckily Hrbek’s quick reflexes kept himself from getting hurt. Gant should have been ejected, not just called out.

Only a 38 career WAR which doesn’t get anyone in the HOF. All star only once. Always a borderline all star but never HOF level

@@antmj2335 WAR. These stats are so fucking dumb. How about being one of the greatest defensive first basemen ever? How about leading the team in Homeruns despite the fact you hit behind Kirby Puckett? Those are the stats I give a shit about. I mean, for the Ron Gant play alone he should be in the Hall.

@@antmj2335 Having grown up in Minnesota in the 80s/90s Kent Hrbek was and still is my favorite player of all time. Watching this video shows how time changes things. Hrbek was known in the late 80s for being a chubby/fat player. He also refused to be named as an all-star by the coaches' selections. HE most certainly would have went in 1988 and 1992 when Tom Kelly was the All Star Manager. Agreed though he isn't a Hall of Famer.... He would be in the Hall of VERY Good if there was one.

He might have been if he would have stayed in shape. But he liked to stuff his face with pizza and cheeseburgers and he.was a big fat guy. Because of this he was injury prone and never reached his full potential. But he was still a great player nonetheless and was fun to watch. And a very colorful character!
