Born and raised all my life Cat fan, but this was a terrific Alabama team also. Particularly Buck Johnson. We played this Alabama team 4 times in 1986. Twice during the regular season, once in the SEC Tournament, and again in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament, and for those who might not know, Kentucky won all 4 games. Now ironically, once we delt the Tide that fourth loss in the Sweet Sixteen, the Cats would move on to the regional final, where the LSU Tigers awaited the Cats for the fourth time that season also. Kentucky had beaten the LSU Tigers in their earlier 3 meetings, twice during the regular season and in the SEC Tournament, but a 4th meeting with LSU that season in the NCAA Tournament would prove fateful, as the Cats fell to the Tigers in the Elite 8 and missed out on making the Final Four. I always thought it ridiculous that the selection committee had Kentucky even in a region where it could've or would've even been possible to have to play two different schools from their own conference for a 4th time each that season. Frankly, as good as this UK team was, they were probably fortunate to have beaten Alabama the 4th time in the Sweet Sixteen. It's difficult at best to beat any SEC team in both regular season meetings and then a third time in the SEC Tournament. But then to have to face them again a fourth time in the big dance was just simply asking too much.

Thanks for the kind accolades for the tide but let’s be real, we have never been a match for UK in basketball. Really been some great teams down through the years

Wimp was so mad that Bama had to play UK, for the 4th time, in Atlanta in the sweet 16, you had 3 teams from the SEC in that regional. The committee did an awful job in that regard, had to realize Bama and UK could play for a 4th time

Roger Harden was outstanding this season and this team was great in Sutton’s first year. They beat Alabama four times this season because they played them twice during the season, once in the SEC tournament and then in the NCAA Tournament. They also had to play LSU four times, but unfortunately they could only beat LSU three times as LSU beat UK in the Elite 8. I am 57 and I was a freshman at UK when this game was played. I don’t hear a lot of people talk about him anymore, but in his junior and senior years, Kenny Walker dominated. I think he is one of the top 3 players to ever play for UK.

"The black curt rambus". When you could say whatever you wanted and it offended no one. Life has changed but Kentucky basketball is still Kentucky basketball
