How do you plan to keep the building cool in the Hot Kentucky Summers at night? Earthship architecture heavily relies on cooling of the desert at night to cool the temperature of your home. This does not happen in Eastern North American where the heat and humidity of summer can peak out for days on end. I feel like this earthship would take at least 5X longer to complete than a Passive Home and I know completed earthships that still can’t obtain an occupancy permit.. I’m not trying to be a heckler! I was brought into the Earthship circle and just see so many problems that are not being addressed. So much of earthshipping feels conceptual too, where I see very little work actually being done. Tangible change is more important each day in our complex, evolving society. False Climate solutions take time and energy away from the people in exchange for a weak hope, which seems to be ever-growing in the earthship community

What's done to counteract the humidity when an earthships is built in a climate like Kentucky?

How would this do in Alberta canada? We get lots of sun, but cold winters -30C? I’m interested in building one of these here, but the winters worry me. What are your thoughts?
