My heart goes out to all affected 💔 I lost everything in 2016 after the historic flood in Louisiana after massive rainfall. I only lived here for 5 days when it happened. Keep close to your community, praying for each soul.

One day you have a nice home near a River , never had to worry before in the past about flooding . Then the next morning your entire world is washed away . So tragic .

Letcher county is bad. We lost my sons truck. It was extremely fast. We had 11.9 inches within a very short amount of time. This happened in the middle of the night. Most people were asleep. We were not notifies until almost 3 am. By this time we couldn't leave. Thank God above our home is ok and our neighborhood is ok but the neighborhood below us which is tbe road out is absolutely destroyed even getting in the newly remolded school. We couldn't leave. Trapped. It was scary. We have NEVER EVER seen anything like this. Fast and furious. Good coverage. You need to get to whitesburg and Jenkins. The damage is unbelievable. A lotta good people have lost everything. Most in my area have no power although I do at least for now...more is coming but we do not have water. We are catching rain water and boiling. Blessings to all my neighbors. I will assist as soon as we can get through. Good coverage guys. Neon ky is really bad as well.

Once the Kentucky River breaches, there is nowhere else for the water to go. The hollows basically turn into water pipes. Praying for friends, family and all in Kentucky, These are some of the poorest people in the US. But this is NOT the deadliest on record, that would be the Frozen Creek flood of Breathitt County in 1939. 79 people died in that. This one is just more widespread.
