I had cops stop me once because someone thought I was wearing a bullet proof vest while I was training and was worried lmao....when the cops found me they realized it was just a plate carrier but then asked me if it was bullet proof and I had a suspicion it could at least stop a pistol but I really didn't wanna get into it lol

@@DUKE_of_RAMBLE It was about as good a sample size as one could get without testing every single rifle round ever made, which range from somewhat uncommon to be shooting at an armored target (some of the smaller caliber elephant guns like .416 Rigby or 45-70) to extremely rare if not impossible to encounter (700 Nitro, 4 bore, .950 JDJ) If something was gonna get shot with a rifle, it was gonna be with 5.56, 7.62 or .308, which the CrossFit weights proved they can stop

The .50 bmg definitely made it through the plate. I believe the ballistics testing folks call it when any part of the projectile emerges beyond the back surface. If the highest point, when you lay the plate down backside-up, is bullet rather than plate, it's a failure and the round has gone "through." It's like breaking the tape in a race or making a touchdown. You don't have to get your whole body or the whole ball across the line in order to have crossed the line.

I am german. In late 70s in our Gymnasium ( no sports !) we had a , Kraftraum' / literaly ,power room' , a bit like ,gymn' in US. There hat been training vests with pockets filled with lead powder, we called this vests ,Schwimmwesten'/ swim vests.

@cloverleafsippa713 FR though. I live in Connecticuck, and it's the only state in US where it's illegal to buy body armor online or ship it through the mail. It's literally a felony here to buy body armor in any fashion other than face-to-face and in-person (unless you're a cop, or you work for the government; because they are above us filthy commoners). The fact that it's possible to have a weight vest with an equivalent rating of NIJ lvl 3 shipped to your house without worry of being imprisoned is phenomenal.

I love how Matt has learned so much and ver the years. He knows the tiny 5.7 won’t work because he’s always putting too much faith in it. He knows that the plates together would stop the 50….he touches hot projectile not expecting heat..

All I learned from this video is: Dont get shot in the chest with a 50 Cal, and .... I can safe lots of money on armour by taking up Cross Fit! Thank you once again! This stuff is a lot lighter than carrying around an Atlas Ball for protection!

@@drunkymonkey777 But, like he said, if you wrapped it with something it would help that problem. Few layers of fiberglass, recycled high density plastic (which another KZfaqr has made homemade plates from and tested). A little cheap work to this would improve that. That vest wasn't much of a material to help, especially after they marred it up with multiple shots.

In all honesty that was one of the most entertaining and interesting firearm videos I have ever watched, and I'm considering all the other well known guntubers I watch. Who knew a crossfit vest can stop my 5.56 green tips? I can't decide if I should laugh or cry. Or save up and buy a .50.

I was surprised that my steel targets stopped my green tips! They definitely leave a deeper impact than my .308 and 7.62x39 but they don't go through.
