Kenya is set to host the second major US-Africa Nuclear Energy Summit (USANES) in August, focusing on the future of nuclear energy in Africa. During his state visit to the US, President William Ruto and President Joe Biden discussed deepening US-Africa nuclear industry cooperation. This summit follows the first one held in Ghana and will bring together policymakers, technical experts, and industry leaders to address critical issues hindering nuclear energy adoption. Kenya plans to construct its first 1,000-megawatt nuclear power plant in Kilifi and Kwale, with a goal to commission it by 2032. Stay tuned for updates on this groundbreaking event!
