Perhaps the ideal solution is for a small country heavily indebted to the IMF to make an arranged deal with BRICS. First, default on the IMF loan and then get new short term funding from the BRICS countries or BRICS bank. Like a construction loan to get a project started and then come to longer term agreement. A few of those transactions would propel the IMF off its current "my way or else" approach. For the past two decades, the IMF has done more harm than good.

Unless participating countries can get their gold deposits back, they should just refute the ‘debt’ and walk away. Chavez demanded the return of Venezuela’s gold reserves, so they killed him
