Edwin Sifuna is my favourite politician. Why are African elders so obsessed with respect? What they are asking for is to be feared not to be respected. Respect is earned. There is more to it than just being old. Old people lie, steal, fail, are greedy just like anybody else. And many of them are stuck in their ways they can't even see a need for things to be done differently, because of the unnecessary fake niceness that is being called for.
