People have lost confidence in our Mps and senators is because we have pampered them too much. They forgot they are servants of the people and not go to parliament to join the gravy train. We pay them one of the highest salaries in Africa and world considering we are a poor country. on top of that we pay them sitting allowances for a job they are paid to do through their salaries. They get subsidized housing and car allowances paid for by our taxes. For example, they get houses at 3% way below Market rates. The govt has to pay the difference to meet market rate prices of 9-10%. Thats why you find that whenever they are elected all over a sudden every MP, Senator, CS move to the richest neighbourhoods in the country or build mansions in their rural homes. Similarly with cars. And these are our taxes we pay to fund their opulence. No Kenyan can get these rates. So why should representative of the people enjoy such benefits when they are servants of the people. You chose to become an Mp or senator because you want to better peoples lives not yours. Thats why legislators are far removed from the day to day struggles of the people. Their incensitivity is mind boggling. They put bread, milk and sanitary pads for a tax hike. Remove school feeding programs which many kids this is the only meal theyt will get because they have no food at home, But guess what they cut taxes on helicopters. We need to stop pampering these folk. if you want to be a legislator know what you are getting into and stop complaining no one told you to put yourself to be elected. Its a choice you make.
