I remember when my period came unexpectedly when I went to my boyfriend's house ...it stained his bed sheet , my boyfriend as at then humiliated me , embarrassed me , made a big deal out of it... I had to wash of that stain at midnight ... I left in the morning never to return to him ever again . Each time he calls to ask me to come back to him , I reminded about that incidence.... his excuse was ..."I can't stand the sight of blood, I am sorry , I know I was childish"..... my reply always .."in my state when I needed protection ,covering, understanding, protection, you never stood by me ...that means in a worse situation like illness or something you won't be there "....

This triggered a memory of me back in college sitting in class during a lecture and all of a sudden the flood gates opened. I knew I couldn't stand up to quietly excuse myself as I knew blood was all over my backside and on the chair. My only option was to wait for class to end, let all the other students clear out and ask for help from my teacher (who thankfully was female). I was so embarrassed and an emotional mess but I will never forget her kindness lending me her sweater to wrap around my waist and running to the restroom to gather paper towels to help clean up. It happened so fast and it was such a mess. I don't know what I would have done if she wasn't there to help me.

Well white is very dangerous color because if you even have a Bowel issue. That of course would show up as brown to dark so you are taking a lot of chances wearing white.

She did this on purpose and it was no accident. This is childish and indecent behavior and no way to effectively get a constructive point across. If it was a true accident it would not have been handled like this. I have extremely painful heavy periods and can relate to the embarrassment and inconvenience of them. That doesn't make it right for me to be intentionally unsanitary and gross people out on purpose. Some people are incontinent and cannot help it, but we don't make a political point by pissing and sharting our pants. That's such a narcissistic and childish attitude!

When I was 16 this happened to me at a friend of the family's house. There were other people there and he saw it when I stood up before anyone else did. He was so kind, stood behind me and said he wanted to show me something in the backroom. When got there he told me what happened, gave me sweatpants and told me not to worry he had laid a magazine in the chair so nobody saw. I should mention he was a much older gay male. I was so grateful for his compassion, understanding and how he came to aid.

She isn't 16. Why would she choose to stay and go through the embarrassment? People nowadays think they need to make some point about everything. Yep, our period is a natural thing and so is pooping and peeing and sex. Most of us know when to respect ourselves and others enough not to do these things in public. I was an abused child and I had an extremely heavy flow and I started at a young age 9 y/o. If I got blood on my sheets or accidentally on my pants my mother would beat me and tell me I was dirty. I remember my mom would do laundry at the laundry mat and I had stained some underwear she beat me so bad saying how embarrassing it was for her to fold my underwear. I never wanted anyone to ever do my laundry as an adult. Now that I have a daughter I can’t imagine treating my daughter like that.

This happened to me twice. The first time I knew my cycle was on. My ex husband grandmother had passed and we were out of town for her funeral. I was in the process of weening our baby and my doc had told me my cycle would be heavier through the transition. It came on the day we got there. I was fine. It was requested everyone wear white. I had on a pad and a tampon. But, when we walked around to view her body, it STILL bled through. When we sat back down, someone came to tell me. I was so embarrassed. And angry because I took precautionary measures. As women, our periods are normal. It’s sad that we are made to feel uncomfortable about them, when the majority of women experience this at some point or another.

A woman should never be shamed for having a period full stop but it’s common decency not to flaunt a period. It’s the same as a man waking up with a morning glory, he too has to have the common decency not to flaunt it. Nobody wants to see those things. @@somie4639 OMG, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for not excusing this atrocity. This woman did not have the decency to be embarrassed about the nastiness of the situation but instead paraded it around as a badge of womanhood and tried to make it appear as if to promote a sick type of social injustice for young women that were made to feel ashamed of themselves. Look at the way she's dressed, the one button in her jacket is crying out for help; she pointed to her collared shirt that barley concealed her chest because she needed a size or two larger and her pants were so tight it's remarkable the blood had room to seep out. Her behavior suggests that she felt no shame going up to the podium to speak as if her soild pants was her rites of passage. Then then the unthinkable happened, she asked for protection, but from what? It was the council session which needed protection from her. Part of the rights to womanhood is our responsibility to behave in a respectful manner and knowing what is to be shared and what is to be kept private. It us not necessary for the world to know when we're in our cycle nor are they, especially men, interested in seeing the actual blood, that's disgusting and nasty and so is she.

But my issue is, if she was really bleeding, the fact that she is being shamed & talked about in the open like this is disgusting. Everyone is adults & is acting silly. After listening closely it is my understanding that some informed her that there was an issue- that her clothing was stained. And instead of addressing the problem she “paraded it up and down” prior to the Call to Order. That’s why they kept saying “she’s picketing”. She also, when speaking for herself, immediately brought attention to social issues surrounding the matter of menstrual cycles. She’s being criticized for the WAY she chose to highlight it- NOT because she had an “accident”. I happen to agree. You don’t have to denigrate YOURSELF to make a point. As they said make a “motion” to have a mature discussion about it. Kudos to the women who had enough insight and discernment to understand “the play” and expose it. Kudos to the man taking the lead for calmly asking enough questions to understand what was really happening, and for asking her to go change- not because she was having a period, but to change her “beautiful suit” and come back for mature discussion on the social issue she was attempting to highlight. She may/may not have been on her cycle. If she had an accident I sympathize with her. I also think that others there do as well. However, arrogant “protests” like that may work here in America, but they don’t play that mess in places like Africa.

This has happened to me about 31 years ago. It is still vivid in my mind. It was my 2nd period and it came 21 days after the 1st period. I stained my school uniform. The teacher took me to the bathroom, wash my overall and panty, and let me remain in the bathroom stall. She took the uniform to the Home Economic classroom and allowed another student to iron it until dry. Then it was given back to me with sanitary napkin. The embarassing part of it was the next day. The early morning lesson was Menstration. Everybody knew the topic was choosen because i had my period in school and got soiled the previous day. The sad thing about it was the teacher spoke in a manner that made it look as though i was careless for not checking 28 days to put on a pad. BUT IT WAS NOT 28 DAYS, IT WAS MY 2nd PERIOD AND IT CAME 21 DAYS AFTER MY 1st period. Im still sad, more than 30 years later. Still sad when i think about it.

This massive discrepancy exists despite the fact that there is no gender bias in the law favouring females. Whether you like it or not, the welfare system forces you as a man to pay for single women, many of whom, as you know, are degenerates. Without welfare and all kinds of affirmative action promoting women in the workplace, women can't support themselves. The feminist welfare state just distributes the burden of taking care of women to all working men. So you, as a man, have the burden of financially supporting these women without any benefit in return, women who will berate you and call you an incel if you disagree with how stunning and brave they are. Basically, Western liberalism forces you as a man to fund the lifestyle of women drinking, sleeping around with a new man every night, popping antidepressants like candy, and going to the women's march on weekends to whine about how oppressed they are. You're literally subsidizing all that. Women being free is not free. Someone has to foot the bill. Islam says, no. No one gets a free ride. If you want to be taken care of, you have to be in a marriage as an obedient wife. And if you don't want to be an obedient wife, go be a burden on your father, who didn't raise you right. And if you don't want to live under your father's roof, go live in the wilderness or beg on the streets. See how long you last there..

I was 12 when it happened to me in grade school. I was just getting use to my body changing, and then I started flooding, and it was embarrassing! I am 76 now, and still have memories! Back in the 50’s this topic was not really discussed, and I felt shame as I soiled my clothes…..

I have sympathy for what you went through so many decades ago when you started your period. I went through the same thing myself at high school blood on my dress I was sent to the principal office. But what happened to you was not that you Intentionally walked around or paraded yourself in public knowing full well that your clothes are stained with blood. So what you went through is totally different than what this discussion is really about. Eventually I have no doubt that you were able to get something to stop the bleeding or use sanitary pads even if it was not discussed during those times. At least you did use something to collect your menstrual bleeding.

As I neared menopause I was one day walking down the Main Street in my town wearing white jeans when I got a cramp and then had a massive gush. Horror story. Luckily I was near a store owned by a woman and sought refuge there. I had no control of this . These things happen.

All women go through menstrual cycles. Being of Navajo decent- which is a Matriarch Society . . . the coming of a period was/is celebrated. It is a huge celebration among the whole area. Granted when I found I had started, was a bit mortified my Mom would have happily announced it to the world- didn't tell her. Of course I now realize we must embrace our traditions, and culture that celebrats who & what we are. It shouldn't be a devastating matter when leakage occurs, it happens, and it definitely happens when wearing white. ANOTHER reason I wear black. She shouldn't be shamed- but commended on her bravery in a culture that shames a woman. It happens to everyone woman and accidents too. 🦇🖤🦇

Parents should teach their own daughters about menstruation and not the government and especially Senator Gloria by walking out in public with blood stained white pants this is not the way to rightfully and respectfully teach or show young girls about menstruation as a matter of fact what she did was more discussing than a teaching moment. I care less about what those of you may continue to justify what Senator Gloria did rather than to see what she was was very disrespectful and down right nasty plain and simple! Not only did she walk around in public knowing she was bleeding she also sat down on chairs with bloody pants on so she even left blood smears on every chair she sat on so please stop this nonsense trying to stand by a woman who demonstrated no respect, no class, and absolutely no moral values whatsoever. No matter how you try to turn it by justifying what she did. It still boils down to to what I just said plain and simple. Would any of you woman justify walking around in white pants after you have had a bowel moment feces diarrhea? Yes, this is just as natural or more so natural than monthly menstruation. Bowel movements are daily so who is going to stand up and defend this. Let me know okay

There is none so blind than those who still refuse to see? No matter how much and how many times you who support what Senator Gloria did you cannot honestly say to yourself that she went about it the right way. Let me ask any of you supporters of hers. Would you go around wearing white pants showing real or fake blood as if you are on your period or trying to make a point? Would you allow your own daughters to parade around with blood showing in their private area and down her buttocks to show the world that she or they are making a point? Now lets get real here again simply using common sense. When a woman removes her bloody sanitary pads should she walk around with them around her neck or holding them in her hands to show the world that it is natural that she bleeds? Absolutely nonsense

Periods can change due to a woman’s diet, stress and other factors but any other lady around her or herself would have just got a cloth to cover her up immediately she noticed it. It is a natural thing and she should not be judged specifically by her fellow women.

This woman (Senator Tabitha) is a shame to womanhood. What she did was like exposing the nakedness of another woman in public. Senator Tabitha is supposed to protect a fellow woman's privacy and nakedness, instead of exposing Senator Gloria's privacy in public. Shame on Senator Tabitha and other women in the House who kept quiet over the matter without condemning Senator Tabitha for disgracing a fellow woman. Senator Tabitha should have approached Senator Gloria privately to inform her about the stain and find a way to help her clean up.

She did it deliberately so she can raise a pertinent issue to advocate for women and girls. She caught the attention of the leaders and made them uncomfortable enough to discuss the issue or atleast caught their attention. The leaders are now willing to schedule time to discuss how women and girls need to be supported in regards to the basic need of pads. She was very bold to do that in an uncomfortable way but i respect her for going through withit for the sake of the female gender in Kenya and around the world.
