Don’t fall for the trap. Don’t separate in college, won’t separate in pros. Pro QBs see these routes and they are on to the next read. It’s the old proverb : “you know what’s better than a contested catch? An uncontested one.”
@chrismiddleton4733
@chrismiddleton4733 3 ай бұрын
@@dougprishpreed7400totally agree! Look how successful Andy Reid and Mahomes have at running an offense that rarely utilizes contested catches. Reid has always preferred the guys that create separation, even if it's at the expense of being undersized. The one time it looked like they were bringing in a contested catch guy, Rashee Rice, they evolved him into something else entirely, something of a Deebo Samuel-lite underneath YAC guy. They clearly saw traits that made them think he could be more than the go down field and catch the ball with a DB draped on you kind of guy, which is mostly all he did on college, but is a play Reid virtually never use in his offense. And with good reason! A good contested catch rate is 50%. A good QB completion percentage is high 67%. Why then would any logical QB or coach want contested catches up be a significant part of their offense when, statistically, they're probably just going to hurt your offensive efficiency. I mean 50% vs 67% is a massive, MASSIVE chasm and the best evidence I can think of to back up your statement.

@@chrismiddleton4733I agree that it is good to have wr’s that creates separation and Andy reed is good with play design at which he is a guru at I think is more of a reason you see his wr’s have separation then just the wr’s actually speed or separation solely. In contrast, I believe it is equally as good to have a big frame wr with maybe not as much speed or separation when it’s time to cash in (redzone touchdowns) because the field shrinks, if you look at the plays Andy runs in these instances it’s either a fade jump ball to Kelce Travis or inside shovel pass to kelce and you need a more big body receiver to finish drives.

If you watch Drake Londons college highlights, his and keon colemans speed/quickness are almost identical. The big difference is after the catch Drake London plays like hes Brock Bowers, runs over people, through people, and gains yards/first downs over and over

London in college was super elusive in the screen/YAC game and got great separation. Lots of people saw he was big but didn't watch any tape and labeled him a contested catch bruiser. Wasn't remotely true.
@adamwallace7638
@adamwallace7638 3 ай бұрын
@@PickpocketJonesI remember everyone saying he got no separation in college. Sometimes that was true but some routes I saw him run he looked great, he didnt look like he couldnt seperate. He also looked great after the catch, he never went down in the highlights I saw to just 1 guy, thats why I said he looked like Brock Bowers who is one of the best ive ever seen after the catch as a TE. These guys are animals after the catch. London is a lot more fluid and a little quicker than Keon Coleman. Its just a fact that London was scared to run the 40 and most likely wouldve gotten the same time as Coleman. aka a 4.6 or bad 4.5s Keon Coleman looks like hes in mud sometimes and Drake London's routes look faster and crisper than Colemans. People will scoff at the comparison but there are some similarities, bball player, 4.6 speed etc. But London just looked 100levels above Coleman after the catch, I wish i had the guy in dynasty

LFG Bills!! This was a great breakdown. Gives me a solid detailed analysis of what the Bills got in Coleman. The Gabe Davis comparison is unreal given he went to the Bills. Takeaway for me as how the Bills may use him is at X that can stretch the field (though not a burner), he's a willing blocker and an overall red zone threat, with good YAC ability.

I don't think he's going to be a burner or anything, but I think the 4.61 number sells him a little short. The first few steps of his 40 are just weird, like he stands up first and then decides to run (he did the same thing on both 40 attempts). It's odd that he didn't decide to learn the technique for the drill every WR has to do at the combine, but it's not a technique that mimics anything a WR does on the football field anyway.

He reminds me of Michael Irvin who ran a 4.52 . Jerry Rice ran a 4.71, Larry Fitzgerald ran a 4.63! Keon looks to be a play making wide receiver and a red zone threat. I would definitely pick him up . His ceiling is probably Michael Irvin and his floor is Brandon Marshall. I could see him in a Cowboys uniform...I would really like to give him 88 and kick Lamb to 80. His game lines up better with Pearson, Irvin , Dez Bryant than Ceedee Lamb. Cowboys need to make some moves! If they can land Amarius Mims, trade up for Graham Barton trade up for Johnathan Brooks and manage to steal Keon Coleman.... Cowboys will be set up to draft Shedeur Sanders in 2025 after going 4-13 in 2024.
