Excellent speech.!! He has gone digging well enough history to prove things. Great work sir.!! Who ever studied the real history do not deny his facts. He is not against any religious beliefs or cultural values. He is telling the truth. People who are denying or opposing his points, should think through, because no religions existed in the past.!! Everything is created and practiced by Human being, since we have wandering sixth sense.!! Religions and Practices apart, see it from out of the box.!! Thank you

Carbon in a living tree comes from atmosphere ... So the carbon 14 concentration remains constant throughout its life... Once its cut this process stops... Then c14 can only deplete through radioactivity... So the concentration of c14 with c12 gives the date of the wood... So stones cant be dated

I am Tamil, I really enjoyed this lecture completely. I just wanted to add some more information on aiyinthinai ( five thinais)... Like how every thinai has distinct people and landscapes they also had distinct Ragams and food habits. Silapathigaram mentions exotic musical instruments and artforms which were practiced those times. Mulavu, chanda, thudi are still used in kerala and Urumi, thalam, udukkai, pambai are still used in tamilnadu but we have lost so many instruments and art forms.

Mr.Rajasekharan, your lecture on the social and geographical spread of Kerala is enlightening and impressive. Your account of the evolution of Kerala and its demography are convincing and concise. Your argument that Kerala could not have been densely populated much before 2000 years especially due to it being densely forested and rain-beaten is plausible. Also interesting was your take on the development of tribal religious practices and how Jainism, Budhism, and Brahminism coursing through Kerala, the coming of Europeans, the Arabs and later the British. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to listening more of your lectures.

ആശയങ്ങൾ ലളിതമായും വിരസതയില്ലാതെയും അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നല്ല പ്രഭാഷണം. ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് താല്പര്യം ഉണർത്താൻ സഹായകമാകും എന്നു കരുതുന്നു. കാർബൺ ഡേറ്റിംഗ് ആർക്കിയോളജിയിലെ ഒരു സുപ്രധാന ഉപാധിയാണ്. വൃക്ഷങ്ങളിൽ ഫോട്ടോസിന്തെസിസ് നിൽക്കുമ്പോൾ റേഡിയോ ആക്റ്റീവ് കാർബണിന്റെ ആഗിരണം നിൽക്കുന്നു. അതു കൊണ്ട് മരം മുറിക്കപ്പെട്ട കാലം കൃത്യമായി അറിയാം. മരം മുറിക്കുന്നതും കെട്ടിടം പണിയുന്നതും തമ്മിൽ ഏറെ കാലവ്യത്യാസം കാണാൻ വഴിയില്ലാത്തതിനാൽ കെട്ടിടത്തിൻറെ പഴക്കം അങ്ങനെ നിർണയിക്കാം. കോട്ടയത്തെ കുറിച്ചി കുട്ടനാടിനോട് വളരെ അടുത്ത പ്രദേശമാണ്. കിഴക്കോട്ട് പിന്നെയും ഉയർന്ന മലമ്പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ ആണെന്നിരിക്കെ കുറിച്ചി കുറിഞ്ഞിയുടെ ഭാഷാന്തരമാണെന്നുള്ള വാദം യുക്തിസഹമല്ല. പരബ്രഹ്മം എന്നത് പൂർണമായും ഒരു വൈദിക സങ്കല്പമാണ്. അതിനാൽ ഓച്ചിറയെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള അഭിപ്രായവും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ. പന്ത്രണ്ടാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടോടു കൂടി നമ്പൂതിരിമാർ എന്ന ബ്രാഹ്മണർ സമ്പൂർണാധിപത്യം നേടി എന്നത് ശരിയാണെങ്കിലും അത് എങ്ങനെ എന്നതിന് ഇന്നും വ്യക്തമായ ഉത്തരമില്ല. അവർ ജ്ഞാനം കൊണ്ട് ജനങ്ങളുടെ ആദരവ് നേടി എന്ന് പറയുന്നവർ ഈഴവരിൽ എങ്ങനെ ധാരാളം സംസ്കൃത പണ്ഡിതന്മാരും വൈദ്യന്മാരും ഉണ്ടായി എന്നു പറയുന്നില്ല. അറബികൾ മതപ്രചരണം നടത്താത്തതു കൊണ്ടു മതസൗഹാർദം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു എന്നത് ലേശം ബാലിശമായിപ്പോയില്ലേ ? പോർച്ചുഗീസുകാരും ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് മിഷനറിമാരും നടത്തി എന്നത് കൊണ്ട് ആർക്കെങ്കിലും ഇവിടുത്തെ ക്രൈസ്തവരോട് വിരോധം തോന്നിയതായി കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല. കുടിയേറ്റങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ടിപ്പു നടത്തിയ സമാധാനറാലി മറന്നുപോയോ അതോ വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞതോ? നാല് ലക്ഷംപേരെ മതപരിവർത്തനം നടത്തി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ തച്ചുടച്ച് കോഴിക്കോടിനെ ഇസ്ലാമബാദ് ആയി പുനർനാമം ചെയ്ത് കേരളക്കരയാകെ ഇസ്ലാമികമാക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ തിരുവതാംകൂർ ആക്രമിച്ച ടിപ്പുവിൻറെ ഉദ്യമം വിജയിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ ഇന്ന് കേരളം പാകിസ്താന്റെ ഭാഗം ആകില്ലായിരുന്നോ?

Absolutely corresponds with what I have heard from my Grandparents on history of Travancore and Malabar. Agreed with comments on validity of carbon dating alone on evidence. Good literary insights to history. His approach is light and simplified which doesn't indicate criticism for lack of depth.

വളരെ വിജ്ഞാനപ്രദമായ വീഡിയോ. കാർബൺ ഡേറ്റിങ് എന്നതിനെ കുറിച്ച് ചോദിച്ച ചോദ്യത്തിന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞോട്ടെ. ജീവനുള്ള എല്ലാ വസ്തുക്കളും കാർബൺ അതിന്റെ പല ഭേദങ്ങളിൽ ആഗിരണം ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്. അവയുടെ മരണം വരെ. മറ്റു ശരീരഭാഗങ്ങൾ അഴുകുന്ന വേഗത്തിലല്ല വളരെ പതിയെയാണ് കാർബൺ decay നടക്കുന്നത്. അങ്ങനെ കുറയുന്ന അളവ് നോക്കി ഏകദേശം എന്നാണ് ആ ജീവി അല്ലെങ്കിൽ സസ്യം മരണപ്പെട്ടത് എന്ന് നിർണയിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കും. ജീവനില്ലാത്ത വസ്തുക്കളായ കല്ല്, മണ്ണ് എന്നിവയുടെ ഡേറ്റിങ് നടത്തുമ്പോൾ അവയിലുള്ള ഏതെങ്കിലും ജൈവ ആവശിഷ്ടത്തിന്റെ (fossils ) ഡേറ്റിങ് ആണ് നടത്തുന്നത്.

as earlier said the three topographies, its an easy understanding that all three face the earth in different way. and no one is simply sitting there. always a small change has to be noted. and discussed and should predict what might or what is the scenario. there is always a connection. though not understandable is from where did we come from like 2500 years back

in the most recent of of a foreigner into this land had definitely thought us what they have done and what they have gained. i mentioned this to say that the new immigrants had definitely sat and studied how people been equipped in this place. and basically their work is to see then write and pass the information. and considering the rest of the world, isn't this a better place to live. who would not want to, except the government part

In carbon dating the carbon isotope which gives the reading is calculated as the time from the tree is cut down.

I would like to point out couple of mistakes Occurred in your presentation. Emancipation proclamation by President Lincoln was in 1863 not 1830. The first book printed in Malayalam was in Kottayam, by Mr. Benjamin Bailey in 1824. The first book printed in India was in Bombay in 1561. It is called Spiritual Compendium of The Christians.

Nope.. 5 thinais is cleat mentioned in tamil sangam literatures. Whatever he is talking is just a basic school syllabus. But there is so much to talk still behind the history az everything is well documented in sangam literatures including the native flora and fauna.

Excellent talk. Really intrigued me and I have a million different questions to ask. But something I want to point out is that while Islam was a pretty peaceful religion in Kerala, it can not be held true for the past 2 centuries. The exploits of Tippu and the Mopilla rebellion (more like mopilla genocide), have left a deep scar on the Kerala psyche. Ia am amazed how this has been accepted by most Keralites and hope that it remains the same.

ohhhhhh this malabar kudiyettam or migration to malabar from the middle thirondrum. reason is quite easy. the wood. other than tropics you don't get the similar tree any where else. and its just for veneer which is very very expensive. so these people are a big mess. and i guess even in the political stand now, they have a big hand, isn't it?

To all the novices who don't understand malayalam language's history, do you know there were 49 poets from kerala in the tamil sangam,which none of the so called tamil scholars/politicians has ever acknowledged publicly,because they had ulterior motives attached to it.Some of the tamil politicians have made a life and career out of criticising malayalis,by issuing statements "THAT MALAYALIS ARE UNTRUSTWORTHY AND ALWAYS CRIMINAL ACTIVITY IS ATTRIBUTED TO THEM",the sad fact is that the tamilians have lapped it up faithfully over the decades,so we are not surprised by the comments here.Nearly 300 ancient sangam words are still being used in malayalam today,do meet up the scholars of malayalam language in Thruvananthapuram to clearly understand and clarify your doubts.That is why malayalam language is 1500 years old,which was also cross examined by the malayalam professors before approaching the PM FOR CLASSICAL STATUS.The PM is not a fool he's got a brain in his head to understand and ask RELEVANT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE LANGUAGE AND AS TO HOW DID THE EXPERT COMMITTEE ARRIVE AT THE AGE OF 1500 YEARS AS THE AGE OF MALAYALAM LANGUAGE.Have been reading the various comments about my mother tongue,don't be so arrogant about your language,once you leave the borders of your state you people are in deep trouble,you must learn hindi or other languages to survive in that particular state.Actually your politicians are responsible for this situation,I know of many tamils who speak fluent bengali in Kolkata,let them speak tamil there to the local bengali and see what happens,the same goes for tamils in Mumbai,also the same for New Delhi.We all are happy with the hoary tradition that tamil language has but, don't belittle other languages,learn to respect them and not criticise them like your politicians say so.Anything a malayali does a tamilian has to criticise,whether it concerns him or not,that's because the same reason mentioned earlier.Here in Thiruvananthapuram we have lakhs of tamilians living and earning their lively hood,so does that mean that all the money the tamil community earns in kerala capital is untouchable or earned in an corrupt manner,if that's the case then all these people should quit the state and go to Chennai and settle down. Tamilians are good people they have been misguided by their politicians,first listen and speak to well read people about other languages,don't come to any conclusion soon on any language or culture.

Atiksh Raj malayalam is getting"classical status"? if any language has 1500 year old literature is ok. Malayalam(Tamil+highly sanskrit influence language) have atleast 1000 year old literature text.or book.if it has pls give the book name.i am also interest to read that 1000 year old malayalam booK/text. Is realy have literature tradition? Atiksh Raj U asking ur language classic status is not need our opinion.correct.but Ur politicians/writters taken our தமிழ் literature for ur language classic status.is never ever acceptable.Maraimalai Adigal started "pure TAMIL moment"in 1916.he is not politician.Proposer Geroge .L.Hart who has written the article to Govt.of.india.for classic status for தமிழ் language.he is not politician. How did u use தமிழ் literature ur language classic status???? Love this. പക്ഷേ ബ്രാഹ്മണരെ വില്ലന്മാരെ പോലെ കാണേണ്ടതില്ല. ജാതി വ്യവസ്ഥ ഉണ്ടായി എന്നത് നേര്. പക്ഷെ അവരുടെ വിജ്ഞാനം കൊണ്ട് ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന അവർക്ക് ഗുണം അല്ലേ ഉണ്ടായത്. ആ വിജ്ഞാനം ആണ് ഭാരതീയ സംസ്കാരത്തിൻ്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനം.

Kshatriyas are warriors, administrators, and politicians. Do they didn't do anything to worth be respected? Everyone is working sir. The priest class was always respected in every religion and every place. Not just mantras chanting brahmins. Even today public priest classes were the most respected among Christianity and Islam.

Technically there is more written proof on Sangham era religion(southern Hinduism) than there ever was on Jesus and Muhammad. Just saying. Then again you have to consider the fact that such was the tradition that most of the religious folklore was transmitted orally than in text. Sangham religion can be assumed to be far more secular than any other based just on migration patterns of other religions to the south. There were Buddhists and Jewish settlements from the BC, christian settlements and conversions started somewhere between 1 to 4th century, Muslim settlers in the 7th century etc and none of these religions were persecuted and chased away. We have similar things in tamilnadu as well.. for example Arichalmunnai was sanskritanised and has renamed to dhanushkodi !!! Likewise there are several things. In kurinji thinai.. we had kurinji ragam and the deity is still called as kurinjiandavar (murugan) and the distinct flower is called as kurinji or Neelakurinji !!!

first,tamil sangam poems is not nadoti pattu.richness of tamil sangam poems built by thinai &thurai structure of tholkappiyam grammer.if u know thinai & thurai ,tholkappiyam that only can understand snagam poems.his speechnoe side(present day kerala)tamil people(cera country) is try to block.treaders becase tamil kingdom west side vanchi .east korkai.norh poompukar.but he block that area .Ex: vanchi to rome it was trade cera ,pandya.(east) here he block tamil and using word keralites not prsnt

Ancient Dravidians did have knowledge about wetland agriculture, Astronomy and Mathematics. Either they lost that knowledge when they migrated from Indus valley to ancient Tamilakam or the speaker is wrong. There are conflicting views about the nature of polical organisation in the sangam era. Some claim that they were well developed monarchies as opposed to others who claims they were minor chiefdoms. No matter what, it was not the science that was brought by Brahmins made them dominant. It was the religion and ideology that they brought here made them a dominant force. They didn't teach us agriculture. They just helped the peasants to create slave labours and thus helped in the growth of agriculture.

this kind of lecture is going to make for classic satus malayalam.because malayalam (tamil+sanskrit) born 500years ago.is not enough for classical satus.atleast 1000 years history need.so ty taken tamil history &tamil language.ty blocked history.for ex: where the WORD tamil king cera & tamil cera teraders in west cost vanchi( present day kerala) tat area will block .there use present day malayalee.1500 years cera kingdom were tamil.tamil spoken before sanskrit.not present day malayalam.
