It's great that you guys keep these old race bikes on the track. The sound of the engine and the smell of Castrol R. Lucky that i am old and can remember when GP bikes were 2 strokes.

@@davebryant6905 heh heh, yep. I loved the TZ350G as a race bike, with Harry Hunt cylinders. The Yammie ones ate pistons like potato chips. The Honda RS's seemed to have much longer-lasting "accessories" like gauges & ignitions... never rode one but they looked like they handled well from where I sat.

I ran a capillary temp gauge on my TZ350 sidecar outfit years ago, the vibration would destroy the gauge after a few races, in the end I dismantled a new gauge in order to seal it up with silicon, I soldered a nut on the back that covered a small hole, I injected a light oil into the hole and stuck a small bolt into the nut to seal the whole thing up, the gauge worked well after that! I always fancied running a TZ750 or 700 outfit but by the time a moved into F1 it was all 4 stroke stuff. 😞

I've a video of me on my TZR250 3MA and I pulled it up and ran it alongside this, and the induction noise from under the screen sounded almost the same, mine revs to 13,000 but I was being gentle with the engine and only going to 11,000. I'm knocking on a bit now and the thought just occurred to me when they push my coffin through the screen at the crematorium a two stroke going up the box and back down would be better than music. Noticed Christopher Pearson mentioned the TZ700. Back in the early 70's I was at a club meet and Ron Haslam had turned up on hisTZ700 just to try the bike and have fun, I was running 5th on a modified RD350 road bike and he lapped me just before the flag, then he shut off and waved me by so I could end on the same lap as him, and the 4 guys ahead.

Steven. Yeah always a crack up. When we bought our first pair of 750s the advice we got given was amazing. Almost without fail from folk who’d never sat on one let alone ridden, worked on or owned one . Was quite hilarious . Only one person gave us good “advice” who’d not ridden one and he had great racing and TZ seat time

I raced in the '75 Daytona 200 on a privateer fully sponsored by Island Yamaha (Merritt Island Yamaha, Merritt Island Florida) TZ350 (B). During one of the open practices earlier in the week I got to take a couple laps on a privateer Yoshimira Team TZ700 (only Kenny and Ago had the 750cc engines at Daytona that year). I rode a pretty highly tuned (ported and carb'd up) Kawasaki H2 750 on the street at the time (I was a Sr. in H.S. at Astronaut H.S. in Titusville Florida). The TZ700 was a blast to ride...the frame kinda flexed and wiggled through the high speed corners just like my H2 on street high speed corners. I would have loved to have riden one in the big race.

Taking a very conservative line. But if your passed and he's pulling you, watch the others live and start out riding him. 2T's have a tight line, use that to your advanage. Four strokes are passing you have a large radius and apex. Get in that power band sooner and use the lower CG to your benefit. I raced a lot, and I mean a lot. You can do this, it just takes practice and do not be afraid of that power band. Great vid.

Not bad bro, a couple of suggestions...get that turn after the back straight sorted out, you miss the apex almost every time. This kills your exit the successive couple of turns, there's probably a second in that sequence. For that turn practice a little patience, better slow in and fast out until you get it sorted. Possibly just a braking marker issue. Also, in general, if you're using modern tires....be a little more heavy handed on the throttle for your corner exits. There's a good second there too accumulatively. It seems like your to tentative on the gas. Is your red line really at 11K or ? If you can push it more do it, another place for small accumulative gains. Imho....edit: I think it's your downshift timing, you often seem to get the last shift in to late, so your not ready to turn in. Practice either being earlier with the second down shift or even doing a double at some point. That will increase your engine braking, so proper clutch release and timing is important so you have the bike settled for turn in. Of course it's something you have to practice and get used to/comfortable with...again, imho.

I still have my 2009 RS125R Honda, 2001 NXA RS250R Honda and 2000 5KE TZ250 Yamaha, but haven't ridden them for many years. Need to learn to stay on the RG150 again first and ensure I put new rubber on them. Great to hear you are still active in motorbikes. Give my regards to Kerry. I still frequently recant the story of my ride on Kerry's TZ250 around your house and how Kerry and the late Craig fended off the neighbors complaints!
