Kerry discusses the success of "Leftoverture and Point of Know Return"...and the making of "Dust in the Wind"...big arena Rock Shows and special effects.
As you'll soon discover, I'm not a professional interviewer. As a lover of history, it was important that Kerry's legacy not be lost to the elements of time, and wanted to document his stories and recollections for his family...we thought it good enough to share with the general public.

Thank for doing this series. I've been a Kansas fan since I was 11 or 12 years old. I'm now two month from being 60 and I'm still a huge fan. These guys are one reason why I'm a guitar player and a Prog Rock freak. 🎸🎼🎵🎶😔🙏🇺🇸

Aloha John! Thank you so much for posting this shows! So inspirational to my music and spirit! I am a full time guitar and ukulele teacher for over 35 years and taught and performed “Dust in the wind” many times! I teach that song to get students to play Hawaiian Slack Key guitar better! In my earlier years, I played 5-6 nights a week in rock and roll bands and performed some Kansas songs! Just purchased new recordings of Kerry because of your show! Thank you again! The funny thing about that lightning generator story is there's a group called ArcAttack that uses a computer controlled lightning generator (Tesla coil) AS an instrument. The lightning bolt IS the speaker! And they are reported to be LOUD. That group has actually been onstage (dressed in chain mail for shock protection) with a special electro-optical guitar playing the thing. There's a number of hobbyists that have built their own such Tesla coil. Search KZfaq for singling Tesla coil. These things require special attention to design and build because they are basically small scale EMP generators and they can lightning strike their own electronics. Fiber optics and really good electrical shielding are critical.

the original is much better, but the KZfaq filter actually clipped some of the audio...on several of these segments the KZfaq "bot" deleted background audio of Kerry's music claiming "copyright infringement"...we wrote to KZfaq claiming fair use by the author for educational purposes, etc., no response...yet, complete lps are available here. Honestly, these were never made for "public consumption", but for Kerry's future heirs...so they indeed are not what they could be if the end intent was to please everyone on the planet...

There are a couple dead audio spots on this in the middle able 8:25 & cuts off abruptly when Kerry Is asked about his current Spiritual state of mind.

KZfaq flagged this video for "copyright" infringement...for using his own music in the segment(go figure). Several emails later, we were still unable to get around their robot...the quickest way to get this available rather than remixing was to let their robot glean out the "offending music" :-) It's really an irritation, meanwhile, I'm sitting here listening to an entire lp by the Strawbs in of all places...KZfaq...
