At 21 years old, Kerry Max Cook was convicted of a murder he didn't commit and then spent the next twenty-two years on death row. Just eleven days before his execution, Cook was released when Texas' highest appeals court threw out his conviction citing overwhelming evidence of police and prosecutorial misconduct. His story of suffering through a horrifying nightmare and living to tell the tale is the subject of the play The Exonerated and is also chronicled in his autobiography Chasing Justice.
