This is my first year shooting USPSA, and I'm looking for a timer to practice with. Both videos are very helpful. Thank you.

Short and sweet. Perfect. 👍

The only problem with the Kestrel is it doesn’t talk to PractiScore yet, but it’s so much better for just about everything else than anything else I’ve used, including the AMG.

Shoters Global just release the SG Timer Go witch apparently has a louder beep and is less expensive

AMG Commander doesn't work in wet environment.

So many folks recommending AMG don't mention three very important things. The customer support is non existent literally, there is a 9+ month wait and Practiscore has announced it will update eventually for it to be compatible with other shot timers. I tried them all even waiting the 9+ month wait for the AMG and it doesn't even remotely hold a candle to this kestrel offering outside of communication with Practiscore. The ONLY positive thing about AMG is resold it for nearly 100 more than I paid for it.

Have you tried the CED7000? Seems to be really easy to use and hassle free. I've seen several at my local club and people seem to like them. I'm considering getting one.

Ben, how long before you start shooting PRS?

Pact III??? Ive used it a ton and its great.
@spacecaesar7619 Жыл бұрын
Does it reliably pick up suppressed shots? I’d also be interested in if the shooters global timer does as it advertises.
@RetreatHell Жыл бұрын
Yes, because you can fine tune the sensitivity to infinity pretty much. It has preset sensitivity modes for suppressed and dry fire (and pistol, rifle and .22lr), but then you can go in and fine tune the sensitivity within those presets. Like VERY fine or gross adjustments. Low numbers are more sensitive, high numbers are less sensitive (took me a bit to figure that out lol)

PACT ?
@johnmh9264 Жыл бұрын
Why not the Pact III? Great for groups or single training. It's the loudest buzzer in my opinion on the market. Once you learn how to change stuff with the buttons its very fast.

Mine won't pick up .22 or suppressed 5.56 even with the sensitivity all the way down
@ianfirth1411 Жыл бұрын
@@briang7826shouldn’t you turn up the sensitivity instead of down then so it could pick up the shots?
@briang7826 Жыл бұрын
@@ianfirth1411 I turned it all the way both directions and neither one worked. I wasn't sure which way to turn for up or down. But technically you're right, I just worded it wrong.

@briang7826 Жыл бұрын
@@johnmh9264 why wouldn't he shoot suppressed? Because he doesn't have videos on it? Dudes been around the business awhile, I'm sure he has suppressors.

What’s your beef with the Global timer
@swiftaudi Жыл бұрын
Quite beep, no dedicated stat button. He did an opinion video on it very recently.
@ERIKMMT Жыл бұрын
@@swiftaudi ok, I looked at Bens review now. Still seems pretty slick though.
@swiftaudi Жыл бұрын
@@ERIKMMT I have one and my only really issue is the No dedicated go button. The clip only holds well on thick belts also. Also it needs tuned to pick up shots accurately but that’s no issue because tuning it is easy. I do miss the top screen as well but the magnet feature is nice and it does qi charging which is nice.
@John1911 Жыл бұрын
We have the Global Timer and think it’s pretty slick. But the quiet beep is a huge miss. We’ve brought it up with SG and they were aware of it. Also claim to be addressing it. But I suspect the only way is a physical hardware upgrade. Which would mean a gen 2 model.

So why not the PACT?
@John1911 Жыл бұрын
I ran a PACT for close to 15 years. Fundamentally the design is being left behind by modern screened timers. Meaning the display is so small that making adjustments or reading data beyond the current screen is not intuitive. Modern timers allow a shooter to see six shots with splits at a glance. The Pact timer operates like an X-Box controller inputting a cheat code. Additionally my Pact timer doesn’t allow for sensitivity adjustments for such things as suppressed rifles.
@goodluck2522 Жыл бұрын
@@John1911 yeah the way the buttons work are annoying
@John1911 Жыл бұрын
@@goodluck2522 Now imagine having to do that for 15-20 students you are running through a single drill. Just something to keep in mind when considering where other people are coming from on timers.
@goodluck2522 Жыл бұрын
@John1911 that's a great point I've only ever used the pact for me and 1 or 2 other people at a time.. and even then it was clunky.
