In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, actor Kevin Bacon revealed he went undercover, including fake teeth and a new nose, to experience life as a regular person. “This sucks. I want to go back to being famous,” he quipped.

He had the life of a normal man, it is miserable. Movie stars and attractive women never have a bad day. My wife has no clue what its like to live like as a man either. Everywhere we go she's treated like a queen.

I think if any of us got accustomed to getting celebrity treatment, we'd hate to go back to a normal life. He had a very normal reaction to that. It's like getting to fly first class. Once you've done that, you'll do anything you can to avoid going back to economy seating.

@@hutch1197 that's a really good point. i think it's more that you shouldn't be so far removed from your humbleness that you can't appreciate what you have even if it's not premium grade. celebrities, in particular, are culpable because without the "common folk" supporting them they would be nothing. they want common folk to adore them but don't want to associate with them.

@@LM-ch8rh I don't think it's about the humility or ego. I think it's about the perks. It's nice to get a table at a packed restaurant whenever you want. Or to get to choice seats at basketball game. I don't think he was complaining about people not feeding his ego. He was complaining about the general drudgery of ordinary life vs the perks he gets as a celebrity. That's why I used the first-class seating example. It's nice to have a larger seat and be served a meal and cocktails instead of being crammed like sardines and getting a bag of pretzels.

Fame often turns a person into a pampered, spolied brat. Stars never learn humility, patience, self control, kindness to others. As a famous movie star, I am addicted to fans worshipping me. I crave continual attention and gratitude from the lowly, ordinary peasants. I am unable to undo my arrogance and fame. So I decided to go back in time to the day before I moved to LA. And changed my plan. I don't want to be a star. I want to be a good father in a conservative, quiet, humble culture. So I moved to Indiana instead. Now I don't need or crave attention. And I'm not an adult spoiled brat. And you don't know my name or my face. Perfect.
