I’m not sure how other people feel but I feel the Russo’s were super important for the quality of a lot of those movies. Winter soldier Civil War infinity war endgame all such great movies. I’m hoping they have them in their back pocket for secret wars.

mehh russo made the avengers boring...i still like the avengers 1 and 2 and that what makes u love the avengers right? just be true on urself once.. are u satisfied how they collected the infi stones and the solution they give to it? im pretty sure no...specially all these fight scenes only came 1/4 of the time i spent my ass in the cinema..avengers 3 and 4 is good but if u say godly then i disagree..i still love how they did avangers 1 and 2 without a boring scene..lots of action but never forget the narration.. its a masterpiece for me.. i can see my superheroes saving people unlike 3 and 4.. all happened in a heavily cgi places .

Also, you are talking about the Avengers movies only ignoring their work on Captain America, especially when Civil War was almost a pseudo Avengers Movie. I don't know if I would call the Russos the best or infallible, but I think you are selling them down short AND act like the Whedon era was perfect. Both have their pros and cons,

I'm cautiously optimistic. I think the problems started when they amped up the number of projects they were creating. Kevin wasn't able to focus on each project and that is where things fell apart. I think now that they are slowing down a little where he can truly focus on each project, they can right the ship and get back to the quality we have come to expect.

I think you give Feigi to much Credit/importance Yes he is the one who makes the Grandplan for the MCU but the early Films were made by People who knew Comicbooks and were accomplished Moviemaker. When you hear who now writes the Movies its mostly amateurs or people who Produced a flop before. And many dont like or never really read a Comicbook which they themselves told in intergiviews

I just want respect for Doctor Strange. IMO Benedict Cumberbatch is severely underutilized for the sake of pushing agendas. He’s easily a top choice to replace RDJ in his own way. Yet we see Marvel push him aside even in his own movie. Terrible of them.

Josh, big problem is that regardless of how much Feige changes things, he's missing a lot of important elements. No leaders to latch onto like Cap, Tony, Nat. They're either not coming back or haven't indicated that they are. Evans seems hesitant to return as Steve. Phase 4 introduced or featured a lot of characters that now seem to have no obvious next step. Wanda, Vision, Kate Bishop, Moon Knight, She-Hulk. When frickin Echo is getting a show, but not Kate, that's bad.

Although, I would argue that Hawkeye IS Kate's show. I don't think it was for Clint. We know that Clint has been trying to retire for a while. He's pretty banged up. I think this was a passing of the baton series. This was even hinted at at the end of the series when she was trying to come up with her own superhero name and Clint said he had a suggestion and then it cut to the Hawkeye logo. If there is a season 2, I would imagine that it will focus solely on Kate. I love Renner but I doubt he returns any time soon after his accident. Maybe for Secret Wars. But I agree, those characters feel directionless. And they certainly haven't found anyone to take the Lead on the Franchise except maybe Spider-Man who feels the closest but is a shared character, so that's tough. Making Sony's character the face or the Franchise doesn't feel right. Black Panther would have been one of them if not for Chad's unfortunate passing. Doctor Strange has the potential to be one of them as well. He just needs a good Midnight Sons movie to lead.

Maybe the issue is the sentiment you have for those original avengers… their arcs came to a conclusion it’s time to let go and move on. Iron man is gone, Steve Rogers is gone, Natasha died… you saw the movies now let it go and open your mind bro some of these characters and the actors playing them have some crazy potential that all of you marvel pessimists love to be ignorant to, lower your initial expectations, develop some patience, and open your mind… you might find yourself enjoying the movies for once 🙄 (ohhh nooo, God forbid I enjoy a marvel movie ever again Wahh wahh wahh they killed iron man)

There is a reported theory that Kevin Faige has used the time stone to go back into time after phase 3 and do things right after knowing what has worked and what has not with these films. But our timeline remains the same and there is now an alternate universe where Marvel is still the Best as it always was.

2022: Nate Moore reveals MCU avoids hiring writers who love Marvel Comics= More yes men writers for Feige= more Feige control= less love for product produced. It takes a team. I'm so tired of people propping Feige up, he's the problem not the solution. Laying the body at Feige's door isn't totally accurate. A lot of the problem was the previous CEO of Disney prior to Iger being rehired. This guy came from the parks side of the company and clearly was ill-equipped to deal with the creative side of Disney and Marvel.

@Infinity Films They didn't just hit a slump, they're now actively spitting on their source material and hiring people with no product knowledge of their brand (at any level) who actively hate the people watching their output and then blame those same people when their lackluster series or movie isn't well received. (For example, the feckless Asian B1tch who was the showrunner of She-Hulk).

@Infinity Films ya. MCU had maintained a consistent quality over a period of 11 years. Maybe for some reason, (covid, bts drama, ) they dipped for 2 years and now we are just gonna bail on it and give up hope? Just wait a few more years. The main issue is that the only connected universe they had was the one they built around the Avengers. Then they disassembled them. Anything from then on was guaranteed to produce lower returns on investment. It is simply a reflection of the fact that the cinematic universe is not the comic universe and they cant really do all those other stories from the comics because most of the key characters don't exist in the cinematic universe. They should have simply milked the Avengers mythos for as long as they could. But they decided to jump into all new all different Marvel territory with characters and stories that were never popular starting with Captain Marvel.

It isn't "Marvel fatigue"; many fans were turned off by the terribly inconsistent and largely unenjoyable Phase 4 outside of "No Way Home." Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is suffering from people having already walked away/tuned out of the M.C.U. If Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was released early in Phase 4 before Marvel Studios squandered much of its fan goodwill it'd likely be doing substantially better.

Quantumania was not that bad… I don’t know if you guys had lowered my expectations, but it was certainly not as bad as thor and even better than ds2. Kang being beaten was a terrible idea. If Kang wrecks Ants and really, I thought he was going to just have a moment where he says enough and melts ant-man. Then just leaves the rest of the family in the quantum realm. I thought the whole movie was gonna be a commercial for how powerful Kang was… Either way, it still wasn’t thor. It still wasn’t she-hulk.

I like what you said about Fiege thinking he had more time. If phase 4 was too cookie cutter ppl would have called it predictable and a retread. I believe the idea was to flood the universe with a bunch of characters and then when we have skrulls come into the picture there is a lot of intrigue as to who is who and who will actually end up on our Avengers team. We then get the Kang War and Battle World to trim everything back and have a soft reset.

Their idea was be more "diverse" and politically correct which was despised and met with indifference by 🌍 audiences and over the past 2 Years has damaged the MCU brand that was one of the strongest & globally loved film franchises in 2019. I think a lot of this comes down to who he has been picking as his directors & writers. Alot of these guys are people who came from Rick & Morty. One thing we are missing is the Russo's. I feel like not letting the Russo's direct alot of these projects leading into Secret Wars is a big mistake. They have passion for this stuff, and they are us, they are fans and they know what we want to see.

They were burnt out after directing so many movies for Marvel in the first place. Plus it's better to have variety and different perspectives and styles, than to put all eggs in the same directors basket. Either way though, the Russo's have already said they plan to return for Secret Wars. So they will be back in some capacity nonetheless.

I’d love for the Russo’s to come back as well, but they are probably not going to be directing another Marvel film, at least not for a long time. They need creatives with a vision and a real respect/love for the comics. Not like the creative team for She-Hulk, who basically forwent any real research and insulted fans when their work wasn’t received well on screen. There’s also too many “activists” in Marvel/Disney and are only concerned with putting messages/social commentary in their movies rather than storytelling.

There is no fatigue when it comes to comics. To the general public this is an untapped wealth of storytelling of all varieties. Where the movies as we knew them stopped being exciting and becoming hard to outdo themselves comics have barely begun. All Marvel has to do is do it right and leave the agenda driven and feminist making fools out of men material out. Simple.

See, now Battleworld is a perfect concept for a large scale Dusney+ show. Getting all the stars and logistics and everything together to pull that off would be nearly impossible, but that would be a better place to tell those stories instead of 2-3 movies.

It's not as simple as "Marvel was great" therefore they are planning something greater. Marvel isn't a person. It was folks like Russos (who moved on) and Gunn (who was fired) that did the heavy lifting. Meanwhile the writers of Rick and Morty have been uniformly underwhelming. Feige is so divorced from the creative process he's not in a position to steer this ship away from crashing.

Disney need to slow down and put out no more than 3 movies per year. And they need to return to The Hero's Journey storytelling in order to keep audiences engaged. A hero needs to be reluctant at first, not good at everything from the get-go, face real adversity and suffer defeat before finally succeeding, resulting in personal growth and maturity. It's not that complicated.

I keep hearing that the New Avengers will be fighting an army of Kang's in Secret War. The end credit of Quantumania would suggest that this is true. In Loki, we learned that the Kang's fought each other. This makes more sense to go with the incursion plot. I am thinking that the Kang's will be generals in the war, leading their teams of Avengers, Thunderbolts, Illuminate, Defenders, X-men, Revengers... all fighting each other.

The way they treat new characters have to be like Adam Warlocke in Guardian 3, where the focus is less than the main group of guardians. He is one of the few new characters that I find tolerable.

Great video Josh. Like the way you put it together with the clips put after your facts. It makes sense that Feige was very stretched thin and you can see in EVERY project where he was missing from the storyboards. At the same time there was plenty of good content, but the retention thing is SERIOUS out here

I appreciate your optimism, and it helped me become more hopeful. The issue still though is even if Kevin Fiege becomes more involved and clear in his vision, there are currently a lot of mid and even shit characters no one cares about, while missing the fantastic characters we grew to love. Disney also will constantly have their little work fingers in everything, trading quality for work messaging

Even if they recast Kang, Marvel already ruined the villain when he got defeated by *Ant-Man*, and he’s supposed to be an unbeatable overarching villain in phases 5&6. No thanks to Kang. Scrap him and bring in either Dr Doom or Galactus.

Imagine if the luke skywalker show actually happens and then it leads up to him leading the new republic, the rebels gang, mando, grogu, maybe leia and Han, and everybody else against thrawn. It would be the biggest event in Star Wars history that fills in space between ogs and sequels that we never new existed

Josh, do you not think that potentially the overwhelming desire of Marvel to “recapture” the infinity saga instead of focusing of developing something new is part of the problem?. The whole rinse and repeat thing that marvel/disney has been doing is imo a big part of the downfall in quality. I want Fiege to develop the NEXT marvel saga, not try to repeat the infinity saga with a different storyline/characters. Thoughts?

in hindsight i really think it would have been a fantastic idea to hold off on any releases after endgame for like a solid 5 years. really let everything sink in and then move forward after spending a good amount of time to build a really solid plan. they really shot themselves in the foot by hitting the gas instead of the brakes. the fatigue is real and the recent shit doesnt come close to how great the first 10 years were. i hate even saying it but im almost sure at this point that them rushing into things is going to diminish and throw out alot of the different things they have been building up since after endgame and alot of the bullshit the have put out really isnt going to matter

I think they should have done the opposite. After Endgame everyone was exited. What was going on with Black panther? was Iron mans wife or his daughter taking up the mantle after him? what would happen with Captain americas sheild? where was Thor going with the guardians? where we going to see a lot of space heroes like Nova, Warlock, Quasar in their own movies as hinted, maybe fighting Annihilus and Silver surfer? Would we see the Netflix heroes in tv shows or in movies when they were introduced? was Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Runaways, Legion and Cloak and Dagger going to be canon? Would all this be overshadowed of the arrival of FF and X-men? There was so many stories they could tell. Instead we got nothing followed by more nothing. Someone who was nineteen when Infinity was came would be 22 when Black widow came, maybe left school and started working. It felt like it all just stopped and they never really got going like before again. Five years would have been disastrous.

@@jimsteinmanfan80 i understand your point but what if they had that five years and when the roll out happend we actually got alot of those things and they were properly fleshed out. how much of a huge sigh of relief along with excitement would the majority of fans have when they started rolling things out and we were handed stuff that really did solidify that the mcu is just beginning and the stuff to come would be as good if not better then the previous ten years because of their due diligence. in a sense we still have this huge gap from endgame where we got 1-5 decent projects and the rest is medicore and right now it is holding on to cohesiveness by a thread. stuff is all over the place in terms of quality and the expansion of characters and general trajectory and if they had just now started rolling out new stuff they could have put stuff out that really locked in a new scope and era for the mcu. i personally feel the mcu is trying to build a new era but the keys wont turn over and the second the engine starts to kick everyone gets excited just for the car not to start once again if you catch my drift

Of course good scripts by good writers would have been better than hiring Dana Schwartz even if it hade taken an extra five years but that would never have happened. Obviously they want feminist writers alienating most of the male audience, probably in the hopes of getting all feminists on board even though that will never happen.

Nah. Chapek is a scapegoat. Iger created all the problems, got replaced by Chapek who had to spend the whole tenure trying to fix the mess, then Disneys brilliant plan? Bring back the guy that created the issues in the first place. Its comical watching them flounder in their own muck. Hope they turn it around but I'm not holding my breath.

Phase 1-3 succeeded despite Feige, not because of him. He would have ruined Endgame completely if not for the Russo brothers. I don't see any way for the MCU to return to its phase 1-3 success without a *hard* reboot after the canning of Kevin Feige.

I don't think you fall into the hater category but I know this has somehow become a popular opinion to hate on the MCU but when you think about it, it's getting blown way out of proportion. Just to highlight a few points * WandaVision was great * So was Loki * Spiderman NWH & Shang-Chi were awesome * Moonknight was good but also very creative & unique * MoM was really good too. It was also different leaning into more horror. The one major issue is it needed more multiverse. I know people have an issue with Wanda but maybe one day I'll make a video explaining why she's not necessarily a problem * Warewolf by Night was great! * Ms Marvel, while aimed maybe at a younger audience, was still excellent AND it was different * Thor L&T was a problem, sure BUT again still blown way out of proportion. 1st there was a lot of very unique & cool things in the movie. We got to see Eternity! And the weird Kingdom place. However, consider this, if the movie was like 40% less comedic & they had like 30% more Gorr, I think it would've been one of the best movies. * A lot of the issues people have more than anything is the CGI & granted that does suck when it's done bad but to say the MCU is just putting out the same thing over & over is ridiculous. Even Antman QM had some crazy & unique concepts. The Quantum Realm was just so bizarre & cool had it been given more time, it could've been great too. My point is there have been misses & there have been shortcomings but you also have to appreciate what's being done here. Studios have a hard time putting out two movies that make sense together & don't contradict each other. Think for yourselves, don't let people suck you into their hate. It's OK to enjoy movies & shows. I personally love how deep the MCU is getting with the characters & stories in their library. Celestials? Multiverse? Mutants? Etc etc..

I so disagree with the Kang variant acting as the macguffin. There's infinitely many kang's, so it just doesn't feel special to have a new one for every movie. I think having hidden clues leading to Doctor Doom, or just something related to Doctor Doom would feel much better. Basically, Doctor Doom is vital to the life of the MCU
