As a Bayern fan I would prefer Kompany's potential, over predictable Tuchel football. Tuchel's football philosophy (if he even has one) clearly didn't suit Bayern's style of play. The worst part about Tuchel is that he continuously throws players under the bus and hides behind his bad decisions without holding himself accountable. The fact that he didn't formally say goodbye to the Bayern fans in our last home game does not sit well with me. I know our board is shyte but c'mon. Really peculiar guy. Glad his out but appreciate he was able to bring in Kane and Dier.

There are 3 criteria to make someone a top tactician in modern football. Learn complex tactical ideas from a young age at a tactically extremely sophisticated academy like LaMasia. Did not play kick and rush football in his playing career. So he can develop a tactical mindset to build up step by step in a methodical way. This is the most important one. Played as a DM/CB/GK (a central role at the back) for, or work with PepGuardiola, the greatest tactician in football history who revolutionised modern football. So he gets the opportunity to learn the most advanced, complex and sophisticated tactics in modern football. Capable to divide his tactics into thousands of pieces/details and feed/pre-instruct them into his players. Capable to control every single positioning and movements of his players like playing tactical chess under a microscope.

Name an elite manager who played as a GK... It is absurd you listed that as a criteria for being an elite tactician, along with CB and DM. There are numerous elite managers who played a more advanced position on the field, but more importantly- your playing career is rather inconsequential to your abilities as a manager. There are countless examples of great players who made lousy managers, and painfully mediocre players who made excellent managers. According to your criteria listed, how many elite tactical managers are out there?

In the future, it would be GK, CB and DM because they are the ones who dictate the build up play. In the past a CB and a GK didn’t necessarily required to be great on the ball. They weren’t asked to play out from the back. But nowadays, it’s different. Nowadays, it’s the GK that reads the whole field, sprays the Alonso long passes, and play short combination passes at the back to escape the opponent press. They now involve heavily in the build up play. They are the one who sees the whole field and build up step by step in a methodical way.

@@ligerbeats6824 Cruyff was innovative on the macro level. And other managers also have input on this too throughout football history. What makes Pep revolutionary is that he is the first one to divide a tactics into thousands of pieces and feed them into his players. That’s why he is such a scary tactician. And this level of complexity, the level of details that goes into it, has revolutionised modern football. Pep brings tactics from a macro era into a micro era.

Xabi Alonso has gone 51 games unbeaten, has helped Leverkusen to win the Bundesliga for the first time in the club’s history and Kevin has the nerve to say his "team selection probably wasn’t right" . Kevin even comes up with the names of the players he should have selected.

But it was wrong lol He virtually had Frimpong playing as a striker. Alonso ended up over thinking and over complicating it. Pep’s done exactly the same thing a few times.

@@LookatmySquirrelhands Don't fix what isn't broken. Remember how Hansi Flick was criticized by everyone in 2020 for Bayern's ridiculously high pressing game? the result? they won the triple. High risk, high reward, teams should stick to their strengths. Xabi will learn from this and I think losing this final will give them much needed incentive to continue their great form into next season.
