For me, that's the best folding knife that $265 can buy in the world, seriously.

LTK- Quite a knife. Mine has a strong detent too. I think that's consistent with the model. I have the S35VN model with a satin finish. The one you reviewed before had a stonewash finish which I didn't like as much. I love the M390 with the hand-rubbed finish. I may have to update some day. I love the bolsters. A classy knife. I noticed that they have shrunk down the branding considerably. Same logo, just smaller. It needed to be done as it was previously overwhelming.

S35 can be just as good as m390 but it depends who it's from. I'm so tempted to buy one of these...

Beast of a knife, like most Venoms. While KJ had _somewhat_ dubious origins (as well as other Chinese brands), their build quality and materials are beyond reproach. FRWK wouldn't be anywhere near them otherwise, nor would CKF source parts from them. One thing I've noticed is that the knife community is extremely self regulating. Anybody that makes false claims is quickly called on the carpet and even ostracized. No doubt it's M390, and well treated at that. While I'm not particularly crazy about the CF insert on the blade, I could say the same about the ZT 0999, which had a special _crap catcher_ standoff all the way around its insert. It really seems KJ is making nicer ZT's than ZT at this point. And who wouldn't want a tritium insert?

Gorgeous knife.More of a dress knife or safe queen.Kevin John could make this model also without the carbon fibre on the blade for more of a user knife.What you all think?
@LuvThemKnives6 жыл бұрын
Barry Hemmy Not a bad idea. Could do it with S35VN blade and G10 scales for under $100. I'd be interesting.

Dude, LTK..I don't know how the hell u do your lil move where u close the knife with ur index finger, and sneak your thumb outta the way. It seems like some magic $hit bc when I try (and I've tried a lot), it's not easy moving the thumb to avoid chopping it off 😄

I would hate to use this knife with food items and gum up the carbon fiber blade inserts. It would be interesting to see some edge retention and other performance tests on some of the more premium Chinese knives.
@LuvThemKnives6 жыл бұрын
Scott G I'm sure that there are some performance tests online on Chinese Knives with premium steel. I would assume the performance to be the same as non Chinese Knives with the same steel. Unless the heat treatment is different,but different heat treat and therefore different performance may apply to all Knife companies that use those steels.

Got the Attacker yesterday. It's very nice. Every bit as nice as your video stated. But I have to be honest in saying I'm not sure it's true M390. Or if it is, not sure it's heat treated optimally. I say this because I used my Edge Pro Apex 4 (water stones) sharpener, and it took no time at all to reprofile. The D2 clone I have took 3 times longer to reprofile. Little early to say with any real certainty, but I have my doubts. I've sharpened a lot of knives on the Edge Pro, so I do have experience sharpening numerous steels. Not saying this to start shit, but when you fully sharpen a knife in 10 minutes when typically, super steels take 30-45 minutes to reprofile up to a full mirror polish, something isn't right. However, it's possible it's just a much softer M390, than what the US typically runs their M390 at. But that seems a bit silly, doesn't it ? Why run a super steel, meant for supreme edge holding, really soft ? I think China is too smart for that. Makes no sense to me at all. Which leaves the other possibility..... Not M390 :/
@nether966 жыл бұрын
I do have some good news. I just cut up a small cardboard box used for food and the edge held up fine ---> imgur.com/GByIaeR Still cleanly slices thru newspaper. So even if it's not true M390, it's not a junk steel either. I will also say it seems no different than WE knives M390, so take that for what it's worth.
@nether966 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I am starting to believe it is M390. Maybe a little softer than US M390. But performs well so far. Cut a small box into strips. Knife no longer shaves hair, but will cut newspaper pretty cleanly - tho I can tell it's close to the point of not cutting clean. imgur.com/tSm95Fj & imgur.com/VUWT0dO

The reason Kevin John's designs are so good is because they've had the experience producing Russian flippers for Custom Knife Factory. I also believe Shirogorov has sourced manufacturing from KJ factory too!
@alon32326 жыл бұрын
Thats why I hate CKF and Shirogorov - buying from Chinese and claim they are custom makers -

Mamba-Venom but Chinese actually like to spend big money on shirogov😂😂😂

William, Marfione does it a lot. This knife probably does it better at a fraction of the price. I have one and they are just seamless. Phenomenal knife.

I personally don't view KJ as cloners because my understanding is that the reason they used designs from Chris reeve, hinderer, strider, is because the average person in China could not afford our U.S. prices for those knives, but they didn't use the logos and they put KJ on their homages, it was also their intent to sell them domestically in China, it's secondary Chinese sellers that sold then to us seeking them at a cheaper price. As far as the "moral" stance it isn't illegal in their own country to produce a foreign design at a reasonable price. Funny thing, as others have stated, I have purchased kj versions of U.S. knives that I never woulda spent our retail prices on, but then loved the design in hand and purchased an actual one. Case in point I bought several microtech otf clones and never woulda paid hundreds and hundreds on a real microtech..but then after a year of handling the clones, bought a real one.
