The "start high and come down" strategy doesn't work well on Shark Tank like it does in many other negotiations. Contestants aren't allowed to make a deal for anything less than the money they ask for, but if they end up valued highly the sharks will drive the price up fighting over it.

Kevin is right about this... thing aint new... In Taiwan, alot of people wear the UV arm sleeves when they are riding their scooters. They have been doing that for more than a decade... The material her socks are made of are NOT even comparable to technology found in the sleeves worn for scooters nowadays. I was so amazed by the sleeves because, apart from blocking the UV, it actually has ability to make your arms feel cooler in the Californian sun. When I bought them they were around 5USD to 10USD. I fully understand what she's offering is a "lifestyle" and brand... but its not worth a 1,000,000 evaluation. She has 300k of her own money and 80k in sales in sales. Also, like what Kevin said, she's offering a "non-proprietary sock". Either she does not know the "Three C's" of entrepreneurship or she's trying to use shark tank to gain some brand recognition and traction to make up for the 2nd "C". No IP, no licensing, no story/messaging behind the brand, absolutely no barrier to entry by competition, 1 Million Evaluation, asking for 100k for 10%...

This applies in other areas too. If someone has an ask that is astronomical, you have to just send them on their way. Even if you could give them a reasonable number, they usually are upset that you didn't give them their pie-in-the-sky number and will purposefully screw up the deal. Stick to people who are mature and live on planet earth when you do business.

Well, technically speaking a founder would be the CEO, and COO, and CFO, and CTO, and director, and manager, and lead, and everyone else. So they are not wrong to think they are the CEO. Having said that if CEO is the first identity a founder is identified with, I personally would have an issue.

The Pavlok guy was completely devoid of effective human communication from the start, and then at the end he insulted the ONLY guy willing to cut him a deal. So not a fair comparison at all muh woman

How was that a bad pitch? I think they just didn’t like certain things about the business and they stated attacking her personally. She was just defending herself

Yeah, good idea. Let’s create a best moment montage for presentation we’re about to watch. Genius … And yet, you can’t slide the video trimmer a little to the right at the beginning to skip that total bs. Haha. KZfaqrs … I could do it for you for a DoorDash meal? What do you say? Can I rip you off? I’ll wait …

The woman came to battle. You gotta give her that. I see why Barbara wanted the deal. I feel like when Kevin Challenged the entrpreneur's ceo thing, thats when she made a strategic error and dropped barbara. Barbara brought the comfy to like 200 million or more in sales. Also many of her other businesses do quite well, like cousins maine lobster. Unless they editted out where Barbara wouldnt budge from 40%, then she should have negotiated barb down to the 30's
