Kevin has a fantastic voice, which we could tell on Glee. This song didn't do him justice, he sounded nervous and flat which was a shame because I know that he is really good. But I did want to take a moment to appreciate how darn BEAUTIFUL he is omg. On Glee they made him look nerdy and "plain", but he is STUNNING.

He did great. Every note had depth to it. It’s not just hitting notes correctly and being boring and predictable. He showed he really has a creative view point on how sings his songs. It’s an amazing start and clearly has more to show off.

He was pre-recorded & pitch corrected on Glee, which is not a secret. Louis said "he's good though" because someine had to say something, and Kevin was there in the first place as part of an arrangement to try to get more people to watch X-factor... so Louis couldn't say "Well, this is disapointing; I was told this guy used to sing professionally but now we're stuck putting a mediocre performance on our TV show because when this dude was still in the closet he'd pretend to be in high school and he'd pretend to sing while pretending to be in a wheelchair... but now he's clearly in his 30s, he's standing and actually singing, and none of it is up to standard."

He did amazing. I think he did a bunch of hand movements because from those years of only being in a wheelchair while performing during Glee, his stage presence mainly relied on what he did with his hands and even though years passed, he still has that habit probably. I find it adorable.

well the original song is actually a really good song and very difficult to execute well due to the runs and range (falsetto transitions), so perhaps he wanted to show off these skills but you’re right he didn’t quite pull it off

Badger BadgerBadger You clearly are neither a trained musician or singer because as someone who has had vocal training, let me tell you that the original is NOT easy to sing in any way- you must be able to sing in quite a high key and be able to transition into falsetto very smoothly. There were some beautiful parts but in general the core of his sound wasn’t connected to the key right off the top. He sounds good when he applies that country twang. My biggest issue was timing.

Kevin doesn't have a natural twang. People from Texas generally don't anymore, especially those from North Texas cities like Plano.

Because he is. If he wasn't famous he wouldn't have been praised. Still, good on him for trying and getting out there. Like for an actor hes a good singer but as just a singer he's not that good.

I think he’s just out of practice. He was in a band before glee and it used to be his job but now he’s years out of practice. Still good for him for picking it back up.

It's referred to as vocalizing. At least a half hour daily. His voice has a sweetness to it. He wasn't terrible. He would have gone through to the competition, not being GLEE alumni.

Cheryl Smith I agree he is really good but I don’t think that it was his best performance or an amazing performance but I know he can do better. Part of it may be the Way it was EQ’d too it may have made him sound slightly pitchy
