I didn't know about this either. In this interview he's civil and respectful. He's not making smacking noises calling women heauxs and b!tch3s, he's not asking brothers about the sizes of their nether regions. Very professional and I made my sons watch this interview as well. I'm a field Social Worker (SW), and I'm shame how my coworkers come to work. I'm a lady, and I take pride in my profession and more importantly myself. Teacher, Nurses, and yes SW make powerful impression by their appearance. I cant step up in a client's home in jeans, tennis shoes, and a swear shirt, and this is how my coworkers roll to work and into their client's home. I have to represent my female Black elders who dressed accordingly and still never got no respect. Clients appreciate a well dressed professional who look like they value their needs. We gotta come correct! Black men MUST reclaim their image". Thanx 👠

Because Blacks were in the lower economic strata, purchasing the basic necessities was a struggle. Clothing is s necessary item. Families with multiple children "hand me downs" were the order of the day. Thus, baggy pants, pant legs not reaching the shoe were the rigor for the younger male child. Some may not remember, sneaks were lower class footwear. But, as with any culture, these faults were turned into a fashion statement. (i.e. bib overalls, work shoes, distressed jean's, soul food etc. ) The majority of my professional career I wore a suit and tie every workday. I am retired. I now live in a humid and tropical environment only 1100 miles from the equator. No opportunity to wear a suit. Sometimes I have a craving to wear a conservative suit. I like my appearance, and the sense of well being it gives. Plus, there is a more positive interaction with other people.

@@victorchukwudebe6695 I do agree that on the whole our people need to go back to respectable dressing and behavior--it's just NOT US....No matter how well you dress racism it there---ITS OUR SKIN COLOR but bad dressing/behavior makes it worst. Get BACK TO OUR STANDARD!! STOP WITH THIS OTHER NONSENSE...It's extremely degrading.

@@faithhope1882 it will take time. Black people in the 40's, 50's and 60's wore suits most of the time and experienced worse racism than we do today.
