I'll be 65, in May, and how well I remembered the age of 9, walking into my neighbour's house, and they had Back In My Arms playing on their record player! Didn't know who the singer was! Caught my attention immediately, only to find out, I would be a fan ever since!! Thanx for upload!!! Happy belated 2022 y'all!!! 👍🇨🇦👍🇨🇦👍🇨🇦👍🇨🇦👍👍💅💅💅

This was originally released as a two-record vinyl album in August 1967 (the second Supremes album after "A Go-Go" to reach No. 1 Billboard in the U.S.), because Florence Ballard had just been kicked out of the group a month before, and "Greatest Hits" presented a demarcation moment, the last contemporary and non-compilation album that would feature Ballard's image. Raw emotions would eventually cool, but at this point it was as if Motown wanted to foster as accelerated a forgetfulness of Florence Ballard as possible.

Timeless rock and roll classics, no doubt. Unlike anyone at Motown DraTs vocal talent and Funk Brother's music appealed to many, regardless of ethnicity, creed, color, sex ,and one of the most important factors, AGE. There are people 2 to 3 generations apart that love Diana Ross and the Supremes music.

You wanna know the real reason? Because today record executives are only interested in pushing pretty faces and people that have the capability to jiggle their ass on stage --- That's all that's needed to make tons of money. Real singing? The computers (AutoTune) can do that for them. Variety of instruments? Synthesizers can fill the void that real bass, real horns, real foot stomps, real tambourines, real acoustic guitars, a real piano, real xylophones, charm bells, real violins and real drums used to do. Keep in mind that a group like Diana Ross and the Supremes would have never happened today. No way-not by a long shot...DraTS recorded flops for almost 2 years and went through personnel changes before they got their first hit. As a last ditch effort before they were about to be sacked and sent on their merry way, they landed a hit. Record execs today would never have patience for that. LOL! Are you kidding me? :) They have no interest in putting time and money into artist development the way it used to be done. SAD, but it's the truth. Today, Think of all the Britney Spears and Selena Gomez's that are pushed to the forefront, meanwhile the people with real singing talent or otherwise are left to flounder in obscurity. Sharon and the Dap Kings are one example. Some would argue that Diana Ross was favored because she was pretty--- Not true. Diana Ross had a lot of things going for her that no one else at Motown had. Back in those days, figuratively speaking, Diana Ross ran a lot of chanteuses off the stage that were supposed to be better than her. Barbra Streisand was peeved that she was allowed to record songs she had just recorded, that Barbra had made current hits of. She had unique vocal talent, but she was also dripping with charisma. If she didn't bring in the ticket sales, Berry would have dropped her like a hot rock. She didn't step on anyone. She just walked by and ran faster than the others and left them in the dust. Rimac brand cars tend to do that to Cadillacs ;) Diana was definitely a Rimac. :)

You said it my brother they don't make music like this anymore.

It's true. Berry may have eventually favored Diana, but only after wisely seeing she was the goose that was gonna lay his golden eggs. And she did. (He would eventually openly declare, "As Diana Ross goes, so goes Motown.") Virtually every former female Motown rival of Ross's with complaints about her rude behavior or being no team player, readily acknowledge she worked like a dog for everything she got. Hell, you only have dig up the old pictures - especially around 1966 - to see Ross was pushing herself to a dangerously undernourished anorexia. Like every Aries, Ross came with both the ego and the drive to prove she was as good as anybody, and better than as many as possible. More to the point, of the three Supremes, Ross, by far, did indeed have the most unique voice. On the radio, when a new one arrived, you knew within two sung lines - tops - who is was without a DJ saying so. And that exciting quality, along with a routinely masterful Motown production, is what sent us scurrying to record stores.
