On the first weekend of September we ran through the Kevo hiking route from Kenesjärvi to Sulaoja. The route is stated to be 63km long but all of us measured the route to be around 59 to 60km. Route included 1400 meters of vertical gain and took us 10:30 hours. The route is situated in Utsjoki-Kevo Normally hikers take two to four days to hike the route.
If you are running or hiking in the area, do notice that Kevo Strict Nature Reserve has strong limitations where and how one can move. From 1st of May to 15th of October people or only allowed to move on marked paths, camp only at marked camping sports, are not allowed to take anything from the nature and so forth.

I've never seen that system for helping you across the river, very cool, it looked a good day out running, top job👍🏃

They are handy indeed, specially early in the summer when rivers are overflowing due melting snow. On the otherhand as one is only allowed to run on the marked trail people do not get an idea to look for a "better" crossing but just stick to the assisted ones - win win I would say!

@@laurihilander1294 Over here in Scotland you can run anywhere you want, so it can make for an adventure going where no one else goes, but saying that I'd probably want to head for that rope crossing if I could :)

@@TheDeterminedRunner same here in most of the locations, only these "Strict Nature Reserves" are an exemption. I like the idea, access is limited but hey - there still is access!
