He was just born with that voice. Like he just talks and the you get the most perfect indie vocal sounds immediately. And then the band is perfect too. So it seems effortless. Amazing...

Thing is there really ain't many bands out there that when you listen to them for the first time tuat you can hear such a broad/widespread spectrum of influnce regarding era and genre. I actually just listen to these for the first time and it is quite ridiculous just how many bands these sound like in a really positive way mind

"Why Do I Feel So Weird" is like if They Might Be Giants heard Nada Surf's "Popular" and went home and wrote a song. Not that that's a bad thing... EDIT--I made this comment before I heard "Popular 2" lol, which is nothing like Nada Surf, it's pure They Might Be Giants

I wonder if Greg has a rapidly cycling frontal lobe like I do, constantly in a psychiatric state of Displacement, but instead of just being action paralyzed he writes down all of the bifurcating, disjointed thoughts, and picks one to repeat for the chorus? Or perhaps he's just a smart, empathetic guy living in a country that treats those values as obstructive to the workforce so he feels disconnected? Could be anything.

The first song is a direct rip of the Dead Kennedy's Pull My Strings with LCD Soundsystem vocals and nonsense lyrics that will date itself in a couple years tops

It's actually a really well written pop song , it doesn't rip that song off, chorus is a world away. Similar riff maybe, but rock and roll begs borrows and steals.they are actually doing something new and interesting with the tired format of indie rock and that's very difficult to achieve.

@@ratsontherails there isn’t one aspect of that song pavement, the dead kennedy’s, lcd soundsystem hasn’t done 10x better. You steal general ideas and style when making art and build upon concepts created. You don’t completely rip off riffs without doing anything to alter it. That’s obvious.
