Those of us in NC have admired the Veldt since the mid-80s and are so proud that they've stayed true to themselves and their music for going on 40 years. We love and respect Danny and Daniel so much and we're so happy that they are experiencing a "rebirth" these days. Thank you, guys!

Freaking perfection. Solid set. I love that this band is getting well deserved attention this way. And repping NC, much respect. Love them 🙌

Just got my first turntable at age 52! Pre-ordered the record a little ways back. Wow, it painted some new neural pathways through my shoegaze-flavoured mind. Thank you guys, for persisting and for putting this out into the universe. It came to *me* right when I needed it. Hope to see you back in the PNW soon!

Just like you said "Their visibility is important to us in the black community" to see that black men have been doing what they do since 1989 is incredible and they should be cherished. Their music and influence is timeless and I look forward to seeing what other young black people bring to the table in the future. We can and do make more than rap and R&B, we created rock music and our influence on culture all over the world is astounding. Happy Black History Month with The Veldt the true kings of soulgaze!

@@gleepglop839 Really. Probably '86 or '87. I met the Chavis brothers at a party in North Raleigh and the next day they showed up at my door bright and early. They blew into the room like a whirlwind of color and paisley. Daniel: You wanna play bass in our band? Me: I don't play bass. I don't even own a bass. Daniel: We'll get you a bass. Me: Um... ok. *wiping the sleep out of my eyes* What's the band called? Danny, who has been silent until now, picks up a copy of the Illustrated Man I was reading from my bedside table, turns to the table of contents and says.... Danny: We're the Veldt. And that's how that happened. I only played one show with them at a party, and recorded two songs with them at Jag Studios. Aurora Borealis was one of those songs. The other was called Marshmellow Skies, and had much more of a Prince feel. I quit to go play guitar with a different band, but I cherish my time with the Chavises. They are truly two unique and caring individuals who know how to dream. I am very gratified to see that those dreams are still coming true.

Strange to be able to say I go back with a band for a long time...but I actually do in this case...and still have several CD's of theirs. I was at Tower Records (as a customer - not a worker as in the Green Day - Collin Barden youtube vid on my channel) back when "Afrodisiac" was released and they did an in-store acoustic performance. When I saw them setting up, I started singing "WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?" from their song "Tinsel Town". They looked at me and asked "where do you know that from?" I answered Black Rock Coalition radio (WBAI - NYC). They were like "oh, yeah...them"

They have lost absolutely nothing as performers in 30+ years. Over the past dozen years I've attended many concerts featuring "classic" shoegaze bands from the early 90s. In most cases it's like watching washed up boxers stumble around and get pummeled. But not with these guys, though. Not even a little.
