Camille's also played with Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien, Phoebe, and Lucy's band boygenius (probably among a lot of others). She’s an amazingly poignant and precise conversationalist... one of the most impressively mystic lyricist/vocalist I’ve heard since Gillian Welch... blown away by her wisdom and inspiring to see someone pour their heart into their present moment... refreshingly authentic

@@sportsmediaamerica to express suffering through music... is to play with pain... to dance with it... quiet your mind brother... to heal any deeply attached pain you must first let go of the notion that sorrow or shame or defeat - are negative in the first place...you see, without tremendous misery there could be no sense of profound bliss... the most beautiful parts of ourselves are through the door where fear & pain stand guard... to grow or evolve we must experience discomfort.

When I discovered Julien a few months ago, it felt like uncovering a hidden treasure. I couldn't believe that someone as talented and as amazing as her had been existing for all these years and I had never known. I am grateful she exists. Her music has helped me cope through some low times. She needs more recognition. She deserves it.

Never heard of her before I saw a Premier Guitar piece on her. Fucking amazing voice and control. On top of that she is hands down the best I've seen when it comes to looping. Amazing.

yearoftherat I hadn't heard of her either. That's a shame because I found her voice absolutely spellbinding. I've never been much of a fan of this type of music, or solo acts in general, but there's something special about this girl. I'm definitely going to listen to her CDs. She seems like a really humble, sweet person too

Her answers are incredibly thoughtful and articulated compared to the vast majority of musicians that get interviewed on KEXP. Her music can be a little too intense for me at times, but she really seems like a very interesting young woman!

This is such a great performance AND interview. Baker is so well-spoken and if anyone is warmer and more sincere of an interviewer than Waters, I don't know that person.

I was watching the Jason Mantzoukas episode of Amoeba Music's "What's in my Bag" five days ago and the *second* I heard her voice I thought, "THIS! I need more of this in my life!" I haven't stopped listening to her since. Thanks, KEXP (and Amoeba and Mantzoukas and especially Julien).

I really like what Julien does, but I can't help but imagine how sick it would be if they started bringing in some like booming percussion, like in one of those explosive yelling endings. Their voice can definitely keep up.

I found Julien Baker from a search on covers that returned top 15 covers that are better than the origianal her Death Cab cover that is truly amazing. I was so impressed that I just want to hear more. and loving this. This gal is TALENTED, the voice, the guitar. Star in the making.
