I really appreciate how you show your thought process and then also analyze when and why it’s wrong. It’s way more instructive than someone just listing off all the best moves

I was so sad when I said rook e6 and then you talked about the sac. At least stock fish gave me some consolation. Great video as always.

Nelson you are my newest favorite chess channel. I like how you show not juts the best moves but also normal moves people play on instinct. I'm a 1800 but I keep making blunders or inaccuracies and it makes me feel better to know we are not machines

A great reminder. Nelson. If you don't have an immediate mate, don't let the king escape. I have let enough kings escape in my day. It is a sick feeling.

at 3:38 you shouldn't have taken with queen but you should have played rook Rxc7 which is a fork on king and queen. anyways good game

Thanks for the video, Nelson! It was really instructive. At 8:41, I was fairly sure the move was Nf4. It cuts off both of King's escape squares (e2 and d3), and it prevents Qd5+. However, it shuts down your rook, so I guess another Queen move by White would free up the d2 square, so the King does escape.

I like your move better than what stockfish suggested because you got checkmate out of it. Computers are only so good at suggesting moves, but if a move wins a game it's definitely the best move! We are not computers that can't make mistakes, we are human beings, individuals, who make mistakes, and are not as perfect as a computer. Therefore when we get a result that ends in checkmate, it's better than what the computer did, because we made a few mistakes yet compensated for it, and still won the game.

Great video, as always. Can you suggest a solid opening for black to a 1000 rated player? I want to become a more solid player and I don't want to rely on dubious gambits when i play with black

6:59 Rook f2, defended by knight and queen, white qeen goes d3, black queen f4 mate, am i missing something?

4:51 I would have checked with knight moving to black square next to king. Then mate or, if king moved to white square next to his queen, I would check and then take queen with my rook. Or I could be wrong. I'm still learning

8:53 I knew it had to be Rf2 but I couldn't see a good continuation, 1...Rf2 2. Qd3?? 3. Qf4# //2. Qc3 Qf4+ 3. Kd3 Rf3+ skewer the queen // 2. Qd1 Qf4+ 3. Kd3 there's a free bishop in that case but that's all I saw, then after remembering Qd5+ and considering Re2 after Rf2 I gave up and unpaused the video

Hello Nelson. I’ve got this endgame where we’re even on material. We have a rook and a bishop each. The problem is that the bishops are on opposite colored squares. If you could make a video about what to do with opposite colored bishop endgames that would be super sweet. Thank you sensei
