Capt. Dan and Heiko (South Florida Fishing Channel) met up early to head offshore for patch reef fishing and drifting for mutton snapper in Key Largo!! HUGE shout out to our friend Mike for taking us out his boat! You won't want to miss this catch and cook episode!!

That looks really yummy. Nice catch and cook video. Next time if you want a bit more crunch try mixing a tablespoon full of corn starch to your flower before you bread the fish. That works good on bang bang shrimp to covered with your red chili sauce. Tight lines..

I did a guided spearfishing dive with this dude in marathon and he shot 2 remoras in 1 shot the second we hit bottom on the first dive. When we got back to the surface he angrily asked me why I let his cobias go. I told him that he's lucky they weren't cobia because they were about the same size as the remora you caught lol. I guess they do look a little similar. Had to share cuz when that guy said they must taste the same I busted up laughing. Made me remember that dive and how pissed the guy was after he learned he something stupid instead of bagging his first 2 cobia in 1 shot 🤣

Very funny story! I have to admit, the first time I caught a remora I thought it was a Cobia also, until I saw the flat oval sucking dish on the top of his head. 😂🤣😂 - Capt Dan

Wash the fillets with salt water out of the bay, squeeze a lemon in the water. This should clean the fish of slimy surface and blood. Do right after cleaning the fish. Then dry the fish and refrigerate over night.

@@ermannodibenedetto3064 you are right. But something I've found is the amount of veterans who take it into their own hand to help each other out. Up until last year, when I got my disability rating, I had no clue that thousands of veterans have started their own organizations for all kinds of support. Ive been to welding school and offshore fishing all for free due to the help of other vets like me. Look up American Fishing charters on youtube. He runs an organization out of Tybee island Georgia.

Sorry but the keys will be under water in a few years.............so I would invest in higher ground !! Trust me..............a great place to visit but NOT for a permanent stay or investment !!!

Love the video. I have used Almond flour in cooking stuff because my wife and i are trying to reduce carbs. The almond flour is good but will not win against AP flour in a side by side taste test. Your mutton snapper dish looked great!!!

I was truly surprised at how good the almond flour stood up to the oil and if you think about it many fish dishes include almond slivers in the recipe. - Capt Dan

So, we started on the patch reefs in about 15-25 FOW and eventually worked our way on a drift later on up to 150 FOW. The best catches however were in the shallower water on the patch reefs. - Capt Dan
