Drunk History breaks down three important moments for education: the Scopes trial, the Little Rock Nine’s fight to integrate their school and Fred Rogers’s Congressional testimony.
About Drunk History:
Based on the popular web series, Drunk History is the liquored-up narration of our nation's history. Host Derek Waters, along with an ever-changing cast of actors and comedians, travels across the country to present the rich tales that every city in this land has to offer. Booze helps bring out the truth. It's just that sometimes the truth is a little incoherent.

Collin Hanks did that role in 2018. That was before Tom Hanks was cast to be Mr. Rogers.

@@aidanyelsma7762 The announcement that Tom Hanks would be playing Mr Rogers was made in January of 2018. A big budget Hollywood movie has a much longer production time than an episode of a TV show. They knew Tom Hanks would be playing Mr. Rogers when they made this. That would be a pretty huge coincidence if they didn't.
@kyleneopperman6186
@kyleneopperman6186 3 жыл бұрын
@@phaedrus000 I don’t think coincidence is the right word, or if it is, than it wouldn’t be that big a coincidence. After all, maybe they director for “A beautiful day in the neighborhood” saw Colin play the part, and got an idea “hey, His dad might be good for that role?”

@Gamingetic

Pretty sure that wouldn't have worked as well because the vast majority of people nowadays know Mr. Rogers when he was older so Tom Hanks fits that build + Tom Hanks is one of the most well-known actors in North America. I personally would've cast Colin Hanks because he likely actually grew up with Mr. Rogers, unlike his Dad.

@Jbug-kj9ss
@Jbug-kj9ss 2 жыл бұрын
@@420spacecowboy there is no such thing as reversal racism. Racism can not be “reversed”. You are either racist to a group or not. However I don’t think her statement was racist. Yes it’s true that there were groups of black men and women who were against integrating yet it is VERY unlikely that they are going to riot in a mob of racist white men and women. She just told the story how it was and I personally think she did very well

This was a show built on a shoestring budget and actors that were willing to take 600 dollars or so for the shooting period. They couldn't afford tom hanks. Note that that price couldn't afford a lot of major actors that they got like Kirsten Dunst, but they were in it because it was a side gig that they enjoyed doing.

You can find the actual video of Mr. Rogers' speech at the Senate hearing on KZfaq and this guy's retelling of it is insanely spot-on. Also, the puppets nodding in agreement with Mr. Rogers at 18:42 might be the cutest thing ever shown on Drunk History.

mr rogers was my favorite show as a little kid. at montessouri school age 2-4, i had a hard time sleeping during naptime, so the teachers would let me go in the tv room and watch mr rogers. i definitely think i learned a lot of my early emotional skills from him 😭 also love that Amber pointed out over and over that the Little Rock Nine were just KIDS. i know it really happened, but it's still crazy to me that full grown adults were trying so hard to intimidate and hurt some 14-16 year olds. racism is so beyond whack and it's sad we're still fighting for Black liberation.
