Dealers will take your money and replace several parts and your key will still occasionally get stuck in your ignition. When this happens the power stays on and will drain your battery if you can't get it out. I do not encourage you to do this because it is bypassing a Safety switch. Engineers created this lock to prevent the key from being removed unless the vehicle is in Park. By bypassing this switch you will be able to remove the key while it is still in gear. This could result in a roll away incident. If you were to duplicate this I assume no liability. All safety measures should stay in place. In this situation one zip tie was cheaper than the estimated $500 and no guarantee it will be fixed.
