OMG THANKKK YOUUUU. I just bought a 70 dollar 60% mechanical keyboard yesterday. I was soo hyped, I got custom keycaps and everything, but then like the idiot i am. I spilled my water on it and immediately it bugged OUT. It was hitting every key and wouldn't stop. I first just ignored it and assumed it was a bug with my pc, but it only took me a minute to realize my keyboard was fried. After a few minutes the rgb started bugging out and eventually the whole keyboard was off and not working. Then i found your video 20 minutes later after the water obviously got to the actual board.and did something to it. But i followed your steps, and in literally 2 hours I went and checked and it was perfectly working.I have no idea how taking the keycaops off and blowdrying it reversed the water damage, but i dont care:) Thank you. so much you are a lifesaver and u earned yourself a subscriber. While drunk: Spilled a whole (1/3rd filled) water bottle on my razer ornata. Didn't unplug it, it started doing weird things like spamming certain keys. Threw it into my storage room and forgot about it since I still had an old G213. Now a month later, i tested it out again. Almost all my keys are functioning except a strange row of certain keys? The "Console opening" key next to 1, ESC, F1 to F12, prt sc, scr lk, and most frustratingly: BACKSPACE. It seems it's this specific row of keys that might have been permanently damaged. Such a shame since the RGB still works after cleaning the circuit board and drying that as well. Moral of the story is: Be careful with liquids, especially when intoxicated and unplug that motherfucker if you do spill it and disassemble+dry as fast as you can if you want to have a chance. PS: still suprised my rgb works since I left the water in it OVERNIGHT and plugged in lmao

It works! I'm serious I have a soldered mechanical keyboard (cant take out switches easily) and I open a hole and used cold and hot air from a hair dryer, thank you so much man I was extremely scared!

guys im writing this with my keyboard that i spelled milk on , it worked , just follow the steps and if it dosent work in the first time don't panic just unplug the keyboard an give it more time to dry

This is amazing. Seriously. Even if you don't do all of the steps it might work. I lost a keyboard before to light liquid damage, but now with this one I wiped it up, but it quickly was malfunctioning and several keys were typing two keys at once (space bar would type " p", w would type "w/", pressing i would also press i and tab, r and g were linked, u and h pressed together, it was impossible to type if this stayed like that. So several minutes later I looked up this video, didn't have a vacuum handy, so I just took most of the keycaps off in the area that the liquid had dripped or that were malfunctioning, and I just blew a blow dryer on it for a while. The keyboard still was broken afterwards and I just left it upside down for the day and gave up on it and thought I was doomed. Now the next morning, it's perfect again. Maybe it will die eventually or something, but it literally is perfect again right now. Just be gentle with the keycaps and the pieces so you don't break them since they are quite delicate parts and it can get annoying putting them all back on (and also don't be like me and in your frustration that the blow dryer isn't fixing the keyboard accidentally blow away all of the keys and parts across the room, that was fun to hunt down every little white piece under furniture :) but now it was all worth it)

I fixed mine Corsair K63 for $80 it dripped lil bit of water not even a spoon on my keys and further inside board but i took my vaccum cleaner and hair dryer and fixed it afterwards i putted my K63 on warm towel over night and magicly started to work, I typing in this comment on this keyboard so yeah its work, awesome

I had two water damaged keyboards. Both my corsair K63's weren't working. I put them back in their boxes an stored them somewhere. I randomly stumbled upon this video. Eventhough it was probably way to late to fix my keyboard I thought why not give this a try. And without even having to do anything both my keyboards are working again. Thanks to the youtube algorythm I got two fully working keyboards again. Thanks a lot for being on my homepage.

I did all the steps and nothing works still on my expensive IBM keyboard. I even reinstalled drivers and nothing. I have 3 of them that have the same problem and after all the steps still nothing. Am I missing something, or did I fry the electronics on all of these keyboards. I will be sure to never spill anything on keyboards again. This is a desktop PC just so you know. So much better. Just did the fan trick on an Anne Pro 2 and it worked. I spilled OJ on the keyboard a few days ago, and fixed it. Spilled water 24 hours ago. Today would not turn on. I thought it was the final straw. Was I do for an upgrade? Nope. This thing is bulletproof! Four water damage attempts and still working!

thanks bro just came back 10 hours later after doing all this saved me so much money my keyboard was 150$ and i put a little tiny bit of water with a paper towel to clean sum grease and my whole keyboard just turns off with little tiny bit of contact with water noting was turning on my keyboard tried everything till i listened to you did the hairdry and let it dry a night‼️‼️

spilt some beer on my keyboard and now 0 of the keys work and I spilt barley any beer on it

spilled an entire xl mcD soda on my keyboard. pulled all the keys, and disassembled my Blackwidow Elite, and just rinsed everything except the usb and volume controls in the bathtub, then rinsed well with a gallon of distilled water. used an air compressor to blow out 99% of the water, then used 90% isopropyl to rinse out any remaining water between the mechanical switches. 3 hours later, and im typing this post without keys attached, as i wait for them to finish drying completely. btw all RGB is fully functional and keyboard works 100%, albeit tough to type without keys.

Got out & spilled as much water out as possible, which partly worked, so I proceeded to RAM TF outa it with my heater, and that completely fixed it, thank you 🙏

It would make sense for all keyboards to be waterproof, after all, the risk of these accidents is extremely high.

I just spilled a decent amount of water a bit ago on a part of my keyboard and followed every step but the taking off the keys because I don’t think it’s mechanical. I plugged it back and it worked but I’m still gonna leave it upside down for the rest of the day just to be safe.

It's a nice method. But what it's the elapsed time more than a week. In that case you need to disassemble it and use isoprophile alcohol to clean it.

This hack can save your life.. If you accidentally spill water on your keyboard ( Mechanical Keyboard). Just don’t do anything to it, just put it to a side and let it dry for about 4 days, and you can use it back. :) This happen to me already, so i was having a hard time cleaning does dust on my key cap, then I put my whole keyboard into the sink and wash it, but then later on, when I plug it back in the PC, it said USB not recognize, so I think there is something wrong inside the keyboard, I keep plug back in the PC for a few time then everything completely shutdown, my whole RGB lights was completely gone. So I think I should get a new keyboard, but until today, when I plug it back in the computer everything is completely working the RGB lights lid up, and the USB does not recognize doesn’t pop up the screen so that’s a good thing. More information about my keyboard (scroll down). My keyboard that got water damage is a Logitech G413 Carbon. Amount of time waiting for the keyboard to get back to life is about 4-5 days or even a week. Sorry for bad grammar. :( But I hope this hack works.

dude you have no idea how happy i am right now i have a apex pro tkl and spilt the slightest bit of juice on my right side of the keyboard it spread but it wasn’t a lot but some keys were not working after constant blow drying with cold and hot air and tilting it to the side after 1-2 hours it was working again

i have corsair K95 platinum and i spilt coke on it now the ctrl + shift + caps lock + tab buttons and the button next to 1 isn't working, they are not responding when i press them, they go fully down no problem, but they dont respond help?

I just cleaned my keyboard and soaked my keycaps in water but I think I put them back on too early. I noticed my "q" key stopped working so I flipped the keyboard over and the "q" key would only register when it's flipped over. I flipped it back to the original position and then it spammed a bunch of "q"s so I thought there has to be water in there. Then I just put a vacuum up to it the switch on when the keyboard is upright, the "q" key works. I would've never done that if it wasn't for your tutorial.

I dont have a tool to remove keys. It took me 20 minutes to remove them by hand. It hurt. I thought nothing was wrong, put they keys back on and realized my W and left alt key didnt respond. I came across you video got my vacuum cleaner and it exploded its contents around my room. I have horrible luck
