It's quite BS because when I upgraded from stock stabs from KBD and Ikki to Durock V2, I thought I won't need to mod my stabs anymore. A few days after installing it into my soldered TKL it starts ticking. I'm like yo I paid a higher premium not for it to tick wtf?

I know this is a joke, but in summary, the good standard you should go for are full milky, full foam/sorbothane and tape mod. Lubing (filming) switches and stabs is a must.

Aylmao, these two! Definitely the wonders of this hobby! Can't stop fucking laughing the whole video. Man you guys almost made me pass out laughing so hard. Can't wait to see more collabs from the both of you. I hope you guys make a video where y'all decide to build a board together while debating about what stuff to do, what parts to pick and stuff like that. Something you might find interesting: aluminum and steel both have similar dampening properties, however cast iron is roughly 10 times more dampening than steel. better yet composite referred to as expoxy granite is known to have significant damping properties over cast iron. People take granite and epoxy and calculate out the sizes of granite pieces to get the most packing efficiency to make ultra dampened cnc machine frames. Plz fill some keys and a keyboard with this shit, and see what it does.

People are even putting poly fill, tape, and PE foam on expensive keyboards that don't require modding. It makes finding sound test for new boards annoying. Imagine spend $800 on a keyboard and then modding it to make it sound like a modded budget board. Here is my keycult no2 65 with silicon pour and I added a layer of poptar wrappers between the switches and the PCB for that extra POPPY sound :). You want to know the real secret to thocc? SA, ASA, MT3 KEYCAPS can do more than all these mods combined. You're welcome.

I know this is all supposed to be sarcastic af, but in my opinion switch pads are great in situations where plate or case foam is not an option. There's literally no space in my main kb for case foam and I couldn't bother with plate foam, but a before/after comparison of switch pads was a massive difference and I'm quite pleased with the result.

Maybe it's 'cause I've never modded high-end PCB-mount stabs, but I've gone as far as to have combined the Holee and Epsi mods in the same set of stabs because literally nothing else will permanently stop rattle in plate-mounts. I just can't see how lubing stabs "properly" is a matter of skill because lube WILL eventually displace and start rattling. As far as I can tell from doing the Holee-Epsi combo with some basic lubing on my plate mounts, they don't feel mushy and they're basically immune to rattle for good. I dunno about everyone else here, but I'd rather have that peace of mind over what, as far as I can tell, is a LIE that lube by itself is capable of stopping all rattle long-term.

it's insane to me that people spend money on all manner of premium-priced stabs when a holee-modded cherry stab will handily outperform them. i have two builds right now and one has unmodded tx screw-ins with a shitton of lube and one has barely-lubed holee-modded cherry clip-ins. guess which board ticks, and which board sounds perfect?

I've got a KBD67 Lite that's PE foamed and tape modded and that thing is obnoxiously loud. Slapping all those mods together may not bring the results you're expecting.

Talking about thock without even mentioning Topre sorta feels... wrong. Don't get me wrong, I love all the things in this list to increase thock, but Topre thock is one of the most likened thock sounds in keyboards. Also the smooth tactile bump... tactile gang rise up.

The thing about holee mod is that it's a cheap mod to upgrade a not-so-good stabilizer. Not everyone has the money to simply "buy better stabilizers" some of the keyboard enthusiasts limit themselves to a tight budget :))

One of the key things about working on stabs, is also learning how to straighten wires. A lot of rattling and ticking comes from bent wires. EDIT: I just realized something... you could use a layer of coins, and then poor silicone over it, and you now have a custom made weights for your board...

Okay, hear me out. The spacebar will always sound at least different than the rest of the keyboard. Usually nore clacky and hollow. Simply due to being to large and hollow inside. You can lube your stabs, straighten your wires, have the best switches and keycaps. Still going to happen. Putting anything inside the spacebar can make it sound more like your ither keys and ultimately kill off the inherit reverb that will occur. A skill issue would imply there was sime way to avoid this, but there simply isn't without split backspace or a different switch.even boards that add extra foam in the plate undwr the spacebar area arw trying to reduce the issue but ultimately can't. I also really hate how the community uses terminology like "milly tops". Being a opaque top housing doesn't mean they're all the same. It's the same issue where people call every yellow colored switch from gateron the same switch when they're all drastically different. It's so lazy and causes confusion to newbies.
