to be fair, ben had a card that let him kill the imp, so if he changed the order of play nothing would have changed

He didn't play in that order, so your point is moot. I'm not going to put blame on either as it's not my call, but the win is invalid in my opinion, not that it matters.

@@andrewthorpe3377 You can't just go telling everyone their point is moot just because you disagree with it, it's a completely valid and relevant point. It's a casual game and anyone without a stick up their ass would happily accept that even if they were the losing party.

Titan mechanic actually says “keys cost 1 less” not “your keys cost 1 less”. So your opponent benefits from it as long as it’s on the flank as well.

Everyone is saying Ben is cheating, but I don't get how it's Ben's responsibility to keep track of Tom's effects? He made a mistake and forgot because he was thinking about his own cards. If I forget about my own card's trigger in MTG, I'm not going to blame my opponent for not reminding me. Both players forgot about the effect, but it's ultimately Tom's responsibility to remember it.

It's pretty funny how upset people are about "Ben cheating". Exactly like you said it's not your responsibility to abide by your opponents cards, it's their responsibility to enforce them.

@@ArdentMoogle I think it's more fair to say that whoever controls the card has a bigger share of responsibility. In any case, this was a game played for fun between friends. There is no reasonable doubt that what happened wasn't cheating, just an oversight.

@@Metis7 Of course. And I didn't mean to imply that you completely ignore the other player's cards (though it did read that way), just that it's ultimately the owner's responsibility to make sure their effects are followed correctly.

Ben did misplay with his brain eater - the card draw is a fight effect so he shouldn't have drawn on the fight it died in, afaik

I think this is a good example showing that while dis is strong, without an actual way to win you'll eventually lose out as the bits of advantage your opponent gets out still put them ahead of your disruption.

Logos and Dis seem like some of the stronger houses in this game. A deck with those two houses screams an awful prison control deck archetype

These matches are enjoyable to watch. You guys would probably want a third person in the video interjecting plays that are invalid and help with rulings. Would help you guys and the viewers watching

Tom also drew an extra card after he played arise. He had a chain and drew to 6.

@8:35 Brain Eater would not have triggered a card draw because it was killed in the fight. All constant abilities end as soon as the card leaves play.

So - Lots of people worrying about the turn where ben dun goofed - However, with different ordering, he could have played a Lady Maxenna, readied and killed the imp, then continued, would mean he can't play the faction he had loads of.. but honestly.. he was so far ahead, ehhhh

Yeah the Brain Eater dying while fighting doesn't let you draw a card. Creature has to survive for his text to trigger. unless it's a "destroyed:"

Am i missing something? Why's Tom not forging at the start of his turn? He has over 6 already. Or is it just me??

It's because of his Artifact - The Sting. While on the board Tom skips the Forge a Key step, however, while Sting is in play Tom gains aember that his opponent uses to forge keys. (The Sting can remove itself with an action to allow Tom to forge keys again when he wants to.)

Hmm, i dont get it. I saw the string card at 3:40, But the guy on the left HAS to forge a key if able at the start of his turn doesnt he?. How can he be allowed to hold on to the eamber?

@@termitedidge The Sting creates an exception to that rule. In general, in a card or board game, if the text of a card contradicts the base rules then the card always wins. (Also I know this is a year late lol)

Lol everyone forget that with arise he gained one chain and should have drawn up to 5 cards instead of 6....and btw when you summon a creature they enter exhousted

I am not 100% sure but if u mean that guy on a right (sorry i dont know which one is Tom or Ben) should do that, there was an artifact "the Sting" in play at 3:40. So the player skipes his forge step as long as he use Action > forge next turn. But i may be wrong, havent played this game yet ^^

hey guys looking for an answer. If a creature is stunned. and you have say gauntlet of command. can you ready and fight a stunned creature?

When you ready a creature with stun it goes straight to exhaust and you remove the stun status. So you basically miss a turn. Constant abilities and abilities that do not require the creature to reap, fight, or be used are still active.

I think the Yogscast guys don't fully understand the play order in these matches. It seems to me that it is really important to make sure that creatures enter the battleline exhausted and then you do the ready phase correctly. Which they are not doing starting with Toms second turn.

looks like tom forgot to give himself a chain when he played arise as well as at the end of his turn he drew upto a 6 hand size it should of been 5 for at least that turn at 9-39 when he played and ended it at 10-42

Just a heads up that fight abilities only resolve if the creature survives. Ben shouldn't have drawn a card when his brain eater also died. Great to see some keyforge!

Its constant ability and co stant abilities f they equire a creature to kill another creature they must survive the fight. Same is for krump and many other creatures.

Even though it is not a FIGHT Ability, he still needs to survive to continue the card text. The reason this ability is not a FIGHT ability is because Brain Eater doesnt need to be the one initiating the attack to have the effect happen. He does need to be alive though.

If your creature dies during a fight, you don’t trigger the fighting creature’s ability.

Tom had an artifact that disnt allowed him to forge keys, but he was gaining aember spended by Ben when he was forging. That artifact can selfdestruct on shadows turn.

We like it, do some more! And get more people involved, these card games usually involve Lewis, Ben, Tom and Smith, which is fine and all but I'd like to see Radderrs, possibly Mousie and Zylus square off, Simon vs. Turps, Caff vs. Hannah... endless possibilities! You could even do team games, Lewis and Simon vs. Tom and Ben.

You have to forge one if you can, but only one per turn. If that wasn't the case, Sting would be pretty useless

No, Ben forges the key then Tom recieves the Aember. Edit: "Skip your 'forge a key' step. You get all AEMBER spent by your opponent when forging keys. Action: Sacrifice The Sting" This means that Ben will first forge his key, and then after spending the Aember, he will give it to Tom who can not forge his own key unless he uses his action.

Obviously, this isn't going to lose their entire viewership, but other entertainers have lost their entire viewership in the past. Good relations with your customers is important in all industries. KZfaq is highly competitive after all. It's just that OmG SicK Clipz's explanation of the service sector is ridiculous. And some people do pay, mind you. Otherwise the ads that we watch are paying for it: so we can pay by not skipping them.

im sure they have some sort of inter deck house balance (so it doesnt end up 95% one house, all top tier cards for example) but thats how card games work. magic hearthstone, whatever. if you have mana and cards playable 12345 you've pretty much are on the way to winning. This game instead of mana seems to focus on mono house draw, so its the same luck but different ways

There's no balance needed for games of luck. Ben's deck has absolutely great synergy of logos and sanctum, whilst Tom's deck has individually powerful houses.

Tbf Tom's deck seems overpowered as well with the ability to steal so much æmber. Ben's deck is also strong but the skirmish creatures and draws are what really saved him. Still not as bad as how OP Merfolk decks are in MTG Arena

There are rules to help balance decks after they've been played, and almost any deck would be strong if you got a 5 or 6 of one house starting hand. Ben certainly got quite lucky, but I'd say the Mighty Lance card is actually what saved him.

He didn't cheat he just went out of order. Lady Maxena + inspiration to ready a creature and take out the imp would completely negate all this bollocks about "cheating". He didn't cheat he just played his cards out of order the outcome is literally identical.

This is why people have quit magic. Cheaters like Ben most likely know that that they are cheating if they do it over and over. He knows the rules and likes correcting others but it just a “mistake” for him.

No he would have just ordered his cards differently. Also Toms my favorite yog but in card games it’s your responsibility to keep track of your board state, not your opponents. That said I don’t believe for a second it was on purpose and that’s a mistake not cheating.

Shiro Xyfy really nothing to do with belief, Ben didn’t cheat by definition unless he knew he was breaking a rule. You can’t “accidentally” cheat, cheating requires intent to break a rule. Everything else I said was also fact, he killed dust imp that turn with a one card combo, changing the order of play would have resulted in the turn ending up exactly the same.

Both cheated, Tom didn't bother to check for his rules either. It would be less entertaining if half the video was "hold on my card says this and not that, therefore you can't do that"
