Mantra to relieve pain and suffering | Asatoma Sadgamaya Healing Mantra for Health Soothing Mantra for Freedom from Pain and Trauma (Asatoma Sadgamaya) You are listening to the soothing chanting of Asatoma Sadgamaya, a mantra that gives tremendous strength and awareness to the mind, freeing it from the experience of pain, suffering or despair. Mantra is a peaceful redirection of the mind to an inner state of wisdom, peace and limits.
Asato Ma Sadgamaya is the mantra of the world (Shanti Mantra). This is taken from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishads. It is used as a prayer during spiritual / religious gatherings. The reading of these verses is believed to bring peace. Meaning: To lead us from the unreality of transient existence to the reality of the eternal self. Lead us from the darkness of ignorance to the light of spiritual knowledge. Lead us from the fear of death to the knowledge of immortality.
This is true prayer - the seeker's recognition of his sense of limitation and his hearty cry for help in overcoming. This is not a prayer for the things of the world. This is not a prayer for food, shelter, health, partnership, wealth, success, fame, glory, or even heaven.
Whoever recites these three mantras has realized that such things are full of holes, soaked in pain and, even in abundance, will leave him desiring forever. It is in this full understanding that a person turns to this prayer. The essence of each of these three mantras is the same: "Oh, Guru, help me free myself from my various misunderstandings about myself, the universe and God and bless me with true knowledge."
It is in this spirit that people all over the world regularly repeat these mantras and in which they repeat twice a day in the ashrams of Amma - both at the end of the morning arcana and after the evening arati.
The first line - asato ma sadgamaya - means: "Lead me from asat to sat." In fact, it is better not to translate sat (or its negative analogue asat), because, as with many Sanskrit words, sat has many meanings. and not only do most of them apply here, their deliberate combined imports provide depth that none of them can hold independently. These compatible meanings include: existence, reality, and truth. (Commonly applicable meanings of asat: non-being, unreality, and untruth.)
